A notice has just posted on my county school board website. They aren't showing the speech at all and "invites parents to view and discuss the speech with their children after school"
I'm glad Georgia left it up to the school districts and told them they didn't HAVE to show it.
You can see it on Nickelodeon!

I’m in Illinois, my childrens school district isn’t showing it either. After the dust settles I’d love to know what percentage of schools in the U.S, showed it.
From what I’ve read, even many liberal districts are up in arms over this.
what a boneheaded idea from a boneheaded president. The idiots in this country sent a boy to Washington to do a man’s job.
.....Western School Corporation officials have decided not to air President Obamas speech on Tuesday. However, the speech will be archived in its video furnace onto the computers.
If the school principal and teacher agree that it has educational merit it may be shown later, said Abby Rodgers, secretary to Superintendent Peter ORourke.
If Western would air the speech, the district would send a letter home informing parents about the decision and they would allow parents to opt out their children from the speech.
.....Superintendent Tracy Caddell said he was surprised by all of the controversy regarding the presidents speech. However, Eastern Howard School Corporation has decided not to air the speech live to its students.
We are not going to view it live, he said. However, if teachers would like to download it to their classroom's computers to preview it they can. They can show it if its tied into their curriculum or has historical importance.
......Superintendent John Magers sent out an e-mail to all of the corporations principals on Thursday saying that Tuesday would not be a good day to participate in viewing the speech.
He said in the e-mail that it is not a good time for schools given all the activity around that time of day and also its appropriateness given the focus on instruction and Indiana standards. He also said that the speech may be beneficial to some students.
He gave parameters to the principals:
Given the timing of the event, Tuesday is not a good day to participate (short notice and lunch period) unless you deem otherwise For those teachers who request to participate, assist them if needed Important: Accommodate any parent who does not want their child involved
It will be on at 5 am here in Alaska, so I don’t think the schools will show it, unless some teacher wants to tape it and force it on her students. (I doubt that...)
NE Mississippi schools are taking the day off for an extended Labor Day holiday. Solved the problem.
Several cities and towns (including mine) in New Hampshire are opting out. Supts are citing lack of advance notice, bad timing, and the need to get parental consent for any outside speaker (especially when that speaker does not reveal the contents of the speech beforehand).
BO might as well speak just to his kids. Few others will be watching.
Excellent! Thank GOD for some sanity - in Georgia!
I live in North Fulton, and my kid’s school informed us that they had too much work to do than to waste time showing the speech to our kids.
