Once again we see that democracy with Muslims does not change their religious views, or lessen the threat of Islam to the non-Islamic world.

Uhm... I wouldn't call Iran an example of a democracy. Quite obviously it's the exact opposite.

There is voter fraud everywhere, although not as bad.

The Iranian assembly approved these people by voting them in.
Somalia voted in Sharia law.
Hamas won an election.
The Iraqi govt has shut the Christians out.
The Muslim Brotherhood controls over 20% of the Egyptian Parliament.
Hezbollah has over 50 seats in the Lebanese government.

The point is that democracy with Muslims is not the answer.

Your points in # 3 are all good.

Though I think the removal of the ENTIRE Islamic Regime, followed by a clear separation of religion & state in Iran (a completely Secular Democratic Constitution), as well as the restriction of the role of clerics in politics, at least, would at least help set the foundation for a secular democracy in Iran. For most parts, this is something that Iran has not had in the last 100 years. Long way to go I’m afraid to achieve that. And, can only be achieved if a clear majority of Iranians want it as such & are permitted to vote in a fair referendum.

BTW, at present, I don’t think the US is willing to support a move to a secular democracy in Iran. It seems the US is still too willing to pin its hopes on the reformists faction of IRI i.e. people like Khatami, Moussavi and Karroubi, to bring about a rather superficial “Change”.

Thanks odd, I agree with your post also. Real change is not exactly around the corner there.
