The president is addressing kids. Big deal. I can remember Gerald Ford asking kids to tell their parents to turn off the lights when we left a room because we all needed to conserve energy or something. We were all supposed to write letters to the president telling him what we were going to do about this. I wrote one. Got a reply, even! It wasnt from Ford himself, but from some dunderhead who worked for him. Said dunderhead probably sent the same letter to millions of kids.
It took me years to figure that out, though. I thought the guy sat down and wrote this letter especially to me. I was pretty pumped. Somehow it didnt prevent me from deciding, years later, that Ford was a pretty mediocre president even though youre not supposed to think that where I live.

If President Bush even tried this the left would be apoplectic.
But can Obama survive kids growing up and thinking for themselves?
I wouldn’t want my kids forced to listen to this commie in school.
I would feel better sending my child to school on the 8th if half of the day was given to Dick Cheney to counter Odumbo’s propaganda.
What we are witnessing is nothing less than the attempted genesis of the Obama Youth. These people think that they own our children.
The Hitler youth survived and flourished as little brainwashed informants. Their parents and relatives? Not so much...
Again...ask the author what he would have thought had Bush done the same thing.
My kids would sit and jeer, making rude noises and off-color remarks....just like their dad. ;)
Well “Dan”, you can let your kids sit through that indoctrination session but mine won’t. This president isn’t like past presidents. He has a different mission in mind and it’s a lot more dangerous than anything Gerald Ford could have thought up.
If he gives a speech to kids that asks them to study hard and embrace their educational opportunities then I don’t see what the big deal is. If he wants to campaign for health care reform, tell kids to go green or something else then no dice.
We don’t allow his propaganda in our home (channel changes if he’s on tv). We certainly don’t allow his propaganda on our child when she is in her school. It’s MY CALL, not the government’s. If he wants to go political in our schools, we parents are perfectly within our rights to punch back. They’ll lose funding for my kid for that day, and we’ll go on a field trip instead. Enough.
I told my daughter about the Great and Powerful O’s coming request... she said “I don’t want to do that!”. I told her to write her answer as “I promise to read the Constitution of the United States of America so that I can inform the President of how he is breaking the law” :)
I would be an irresponsible parent if:
1. I just let any stranger talk to my child
2. I did not know exactly what said stranger would say to my child
3. I did not know exactly why said stranger wishes to speak with my child.
Since the White House cannot candidly answer questions 2 and 3, I will not allow it.
P.S. I wonder what would happen if I called the White House and just asked to speak with either of Obama’s daughers ?
Poor old Dan isn’t the sharpest mallet in the drawer.
Keeping your children home SENDS A MESSAGE.
And if a lot od parents do so, it will be a very visible message.

But he's incapable of non-political remarks. One mention of global warming, save the planet or everyone should have healthcare - then it's politics. And seeing how he lies thru his teeth whenever he opens his mouth, that makes it propaganda and indoctrination.
When teachers start suggesting kids write paper to explain what they'll do to help him, then it's way over the line. The only thing I'd let my kids do to help this goon is help him pack his bags and get outta town.
