When Barack wasnt studying he liked to jog along the Hudson River. He couldnt help but notice the river of hurt and hate and history that separated blacks and whites. Being both, he could not take sides. Dont worry, said Hope. I will be your bridge. In time you will be the bridge for others. I thought he did. I thought he decided to be black.

Posted this yesterday, but want your comments/opinions too.
This statement by my daughter didn’t make sense to me day before yesterday, but it does now.
8 year old daughter comes up to me and said “Mama, did they have a bunch of books on George Bush?” I asked why (confused) and she said “Because they have SOOOO many books about Obama at school. They even have books about his DOG!!!”
This makes me sick.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself) The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

His mama, white as whipped cream; his daddy, black as ink
At least they didn't say "lilly white" or "white as white bread".
But why mama and daddy? Mother and Father, Mama und Papa, Mom and Dad. Mommy and Daddy.
And why wasn't the title Barack has two daddies?

When his classes came to an end, he raced to Chicago to join hands with the church, to learn new lessons: Not how to be black or white, but how to be a healer, how to change things, how to make a difference in the world. And how God wants to Damn AmeriKKKa. < /sarc >

This is a journey that began in many places. It began in Kansas, home of Baracks mother. It began in Africa, home of Baracks father. It began in Hawaii one moonlit night, the night that Barack was born. Hawaii is "moonlit" at 7:24pm in August?
That's what the COLB says:

If she asks why people are so angry with the president over the rush to pass health care legislation, remind her that he spent more time deciding on a dog for their family than on the health care bill.

Being a tolerant American, no one should take sides with regards to skin color.
The author is a bigot.

Add this comic book to the kids' reading list and this one page editorial by Bill Gaines (published of MAD and Tales From the Crypt when Senator Estes Kefauver(D) was witchhunting him):

From Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Barack-Obama-Promise-Child-Hope/dp/1416971440
I found this PDF interview with the author of one of the books:
http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/SS.EMS/ObamaQA.pdf
which appears to have been published by Simon & Schuster (pwned by Viacom, parent company to SeeBS).
From the Library School Journal review:
“Grimes’s imagery, however, is occasionally overblown as both Hope and God speak directly to Obama. His impressive life story needs no inflating, and the heavy imagery gets in the way of the message....Despite the overly laudatory tone, this book is an appealing addition to biography collections.”

From a 3of5 stars review by a Barack supporter:
“However, I thought the asides from the mother and her child were a little distracting, a “forced” questioning innocence from the child and an almost condescending tone from the mother. Most distracting, as noted by other reviewers, was the “Lion King/Messiah/Star Wars/Chosen One” kind of vibe given to Obama throughout the narrative. This was the dangerously-close-to-conceit part of the book that made me wince. While it’s good to teach children to respect the President of the United States, this book fairly jumps across the line from respect to breathless worship.... President-Elect Barack Obama is an ordinary man. A deeply talented speaker, brilliant thinker and professor (Harvard Law School, people!), and arguably the most disciplined politician I’ve ever seen—BUT, an ordinary man. A devoted loving husband and father, BUT an ordinary man. He’s NOT “The One/Golden Child/Messiah/Moses Of The 21st Century”, and it’s dangerous to put him on that pedestal.”
And from a 5of5 star review:
“I’m giving this 5 stars simply because this is the most hilarious laugh out loud book I have read in a very long time. First you must realize that this is a work of pure science fiction once you understand that then you are good to go.”
And another 5of5 star review:
“I scanned the pages of this book in the bookstore, saw one illustration that made me wonder if the book was more religious than I’d like, but I bought for my grandson anyway. At home the first thing I did was check the Amazon price. The average customer rating was a dismal 2.5, but I noticed a curious thing: all reviews were either 1 star or 5 star—nothing in between. How odd! Might something other than objectivity be at work here?
So I read each review, then actually read the book I’d bought. My professional opinion, as an editor for 44 years and a writer of 11 published books, is that this book is well written. It’s attractively illustrated. The message is one of hope, with the religious reference one tiny part of the whole...”

This isn’t a joke, is it? I thought it was a joke. Are they seriously reading this to the kids in public schools? Just... wow.
