They are making a huge assumption. That the GOP will actually be competent enough to take advantage of Obama’s woes.
I have heard that about 50 Democrat reps are from districts which lean Republican, but went Democrat in ‘06 or ‘08. And these districts voted for McCain but elected a Democrat congressman. These districts are ripe for plucking in ‘10.
The Democrats have 255 in the House right now. It takes 218 to be in control. So if 38 or more of these 50+ vulnerable Democrats lose, the Republicans would control the House.
It’s still early in the mid-term cycle, but things are looking good.
If 9%Nan and Harry Reid loses their power and influence, that would be great. If the Pubs do indeed regain control of of either or both houses, they need to grow a spine and govern like they were voted to. AND NO REACHING ACROSS THE AISLE! NO POWERSHARING! Trent Lott started that and it cost us dearly. Send the dims to the back of the bus and tell them the STFU.
Actually, we don’t want control. We want to pick up enough seats in the Senate to break the filibuster and get close in the House to form allliances with scared Dogs.
Control of the House would allow Obama and the Media to play the “Gingrich who stole Christmas” game with the House Republicans. Obama needs full responsibility for his leftist regime all throughout his term. We don’t need that right now. We need to build for 2012, not share in the Obamist disaster.

Good analysis. This is what saved Clinton's bacon. GOP took majorities and he was able to switch back into campaign mode and blame GOP for everything. Much better to have an effective guerilla minority that can tie up 'rat legislation but leave them responsible for their own fouled nest. Then take back control in '12.

no, when the party in power is incompetent that’s all that matters. Case in point, 2006. Dems weren’t competent but it mattered not.

That’s certainly some good news.
At this stage, even if Republicans get Congress back, it’s not cause for relief. It’s going to take a lot of work (radical work that most politicians would find horrifying) to bring us back and you can bet Obama and his supporters will be fighting it every step of the way. Plus, Republicans back in control will give Obama what’s he lacking at the moment; someone to blame when things don’t work out.
It’s a double-edged sword that could just as easily make things worse as better.
The problem for the Republicans is the “old guard” will be in the leadership positions. The new members would be thwarted in the attempt to change direction, as JohnnyMc and Pansy Graham have seniority, plus Hatch, and numerous others that are more than willing to “cross the aisle”. REMEMBER, THEIR “GOOD FRIEND” WAS BURIED THIS WEEKEND. That’s the mindset after too many years in Congress, and WE pay the price.
Double Digit Dem Losses is worth a Novena or two.
