The Economic Club of Southwest Michigan is using Sarah Palin's name to promote an event to which it hasn't yet even invited her to attend. But what can we expect from an outfit that considers left-wing columnist Tom Friedman to be a "world-renown leader"?
From The Herald-Palladium:
In announcing its 2009-10 speakers lineup Friday, the club offered the teaser that former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin might speak to the club."Might speak"? "Will invite"? "If she accepts"? "Would probably speak"?Palin, who recently resigned as Alaska's governor, has not begun accepting speaking invitations. But when she does the club will invite her, said Club President Michael Cook. If she accepts, she would probably speak in May.
This has to set the all-time low water mark in event promotion.

She needs to produce what??
Apparently she isn't excepting invitations yet and she doesn't have a campaign organization and operation yet.
What part of that are you not getting.
The motive for the media, their democrat handlers and their minions is crystal clear.
By creating the meme that Palin does not honor invitations, they want to achieve two things:
1) Make event organizers doubt Palin and think twice (or dismiss her) about inviting her. The Dems and MSM know that her power is not at least the huge crowds and fundraisers she can rally. They want to make her toxic for future events.
2) Create through this Alinsky tactics the image in the public that Palin is erratic, moody and dishonest: Do you want that unreliable diva for President? Heck no!
See this article (heavy BARF alert) to see the MSM attempt to pin these BS "event no-shows" to her.
Why Are America's Event Planners All Out To Get Sarah Palin? (Sexism and PDS Barf alert)
As I said before don't even bother with so-called "events" and "invitations" that aren't confirmed. Also be careful for half-truths (i.e. a dinner where she just attends becomes a "keynote speech", a simple sigining of a petition becomes a "major speech" etc.) It's just the latest democrap trap to discredit her where part of her greatest strength is: Big enthusiastic rallies.
I won't rule out that $oro$ money and Axisrodent's minions are paying off certain "event organizers" of supposed "Conservatism" to bad-mouth Palin.
Be on guard.
Did someone invite her to DC on 9/12?
If this is true, they shouldn’t be using her picture here. The only way they can justify using her picture is if she has told them she will appear but can’t commit to a specific date yet and judging by what has happened in the past, I doubt that this is the case.
I betcha they’ve been told something informal by her people, as that seems to be the pattern. In each case where she ends up not showing, Meg says something like she had ‘hoped’ to make it—which suggests they’d been led on.
It's real, real simple. Let's try it again.
LS gets an invitation to speak at Hillsdale College, which starts putting out posters. LS declines. If anyone says, "Why aren't you coming?" LS produces the letter or e-mail declining the appearance.
EVERY speaker in the world follows this procedure, except, apparently Mrs. Palin and her staff. Whether you accept, or decline, you issue a letter so you have proof. And yes, "she does need to produce that" IF THERE IS A CONTROVERSY so precisely these things don't happen.
Yes, the DEC (Detroit Economic Club) is a very influential group. However, the Econ Club in this article is The Economic Club of Southwest Michigan. Other side of the state. But, they already have Mrs. Bush and Former VP Dick Cheney lined up to speak, and Karl Rove is coming in a few weeks...
Yes, I wasn’t familiar with them, but they’ve had heavy hitters in for decades:

Mrs. Palin's people really should look into this. Although, to date, they have ignored my incredibly valuable, yet completely free, advice.
The thread title said she wasn’t invited
Then there is no problem, is there? I see celebrities’ pictures on all sorts of events-—heck, Reagan (who, BTW, is dead) is on many of them. Of course I don’t expect Newt Gingrich to be at some of these.
EVERY speaker in the world follows this procedure, except, apparently Mrs. Palin and her staff.
Unbelievable. I tell you that Sarah Palin apparently isn't excepting speaking invitations (yet) and you respond by lecturing how all speakers including Sarah should be following a certain procedure.
Answering my own above question (lol)...."none of it".
Look, you guys and your defense of Palin is so syncophantic that it makes me think that, in fact, there is something to these charges.
Your "syncophantic defense" remark -- is stupid and your "makes me think...there is something" remark should embarrass you for obvious reasons.
Grow the feck up, LS.
Um, why is she speaking everywhere then? She is in the far east right now . . . speaking. Did she go uninvited? You guys are gonna have to get your story straight. I have been a supporter, but this kind of nonsense makes me question not only her “followers,” but her. If you can’t get something this simple right, then there is an issue.
The only “controversy” is that her staff apparently cannot figure out what to do with accepted and/or declined invitations. It’s really, really easy. For the fifth time: you write a letter. You save a copy. If there is any “controversy,” you produce the letter.
HONG KONG Former U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, once questioned about her lack of foreign policy experience, will make her first trip to Asia in September. The former Alaska governor will visit Hong Kong to address the CLSA Investors Forum, a well-known annual conference of global investment managers, the host announced Monday. Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Alan Greenspan have spoken at the event, hosted by brokerage and investment group CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets. "Our keynote speakers are notable luminaries who often address topics that go beyond traditional finance such as geopolitics," company spokeswoman Simone Wheeler said in a statement. "We just felt it would be a fabulous opportunity for CLSA clients to hear from Mrs. Palin," Wheeler said, adding that CLSA approached Palin with the offer. She said the conference aimed to present investors "a diversity of views that potentially influence decision-makers who help shape the markets." The Sept. 23 address will mark Palin's first commercial speaking engagement.
So . . . she didn't accept this? And this isn't a speech?
The only controversy is what you, for some reason, and others want to make up. Let the people who are claiming she accepted to prove it. If they have an email or other correspondence than they should show it. Otherwise they are full of it.
Ok, that’s it. I’m going to agree with all of you. Her staff is flawless. They never make errors, and she’s absolutely on top of these things and has no room for improvement. There.
What you say is certainly common sense, beandog.
If an event organizer says that he has been stood up by Sarah, then let him prove it. Why should Sarah have to prove that she is innocent. Why should Sarah have to respond to every one of the thousands of requests just to prove that she is not standing anybody up.
Why don't we all just live our lives all day long trying to prove that we are innocent. How absurd. How ironic(for a poster named "LS").
And here's what happens when one of the supposedly stood up organizers is reasonably asked to prove their claim. When asked to name names of a Sarah staffer who made the promise, Alaska Family Council President Jim Minnery said...
Yeah that's the ticket. He wants to keep it kind of sort of you know anonymous right now (and forever)...LOL!
Sure. When all else fails, wheel out a bunch of strawman fallacies.
LOL!
