That said, Kennedy spent nearly five decades as a legislator, and there's no doubt that he was extremely effective in his job. More than 300 bills that eventually became laws had Ted Kennedy's name on them. Think about that for a minute. John F. Kerry has less than ten in a similar time in the Senate.

Shows how small and insignificant the jr senator from MA really is. And this nothing drew 60 million votes for president.

Well, he was in office for almost fifty years, so his staff got plenty of practice drafting bills and turning them into laws. And he loved submitting bills -- probably more than any Senator should.

A lot of what was said this week about Kennedy could also be said of Strom Thurmond or Robert Byrd, the only men who served longer in the Senate than Kennedy did. And if Orrin Hatch is in there for another dozen years, you'll hear it said about him.

But Kennedy was a liberal so he gets good press from the liberal media. And he was a Kennedy, so he gets a lot of attention from the masses. And he did love submitting legislation -- whatever its worth -- so that makes the media feel justified in giving him attention as a liberal and a Kennedy.
