No political movement is going to be entirely pure and without personal motives but my attraction this has nothing to do with the 1860s. I don't own a slave and I never intend to. I don't own a gun and I see no reason to unless forced into it. I've never made more than $40k a year so there's nothing financial in it for me.
I want a Texas that believes in freedom, capitalism and the fruits of a hard days' work, the way America used to be before an all-powerful and all-intrusive federal government decided to interfere.
I want a Texas where brown, black, yellow or white can achieve whatever they have the ability and the aptitude to do and to make a decent wage for a hard day's work. I am not for slavery and never will be.
I should have left off the part of the quote about slavery, the part about the motives of the politicians who would exploit discontent and disorder is what I was meaning to present.
