Bernard Goldberg is getting a good bit of attention for something he said on O'Reilly tonight -- that documents show the CBS investigation in 2004 revealed that George Bush volunteered to fly combat missions in Vietnam. The following is from his website, Bernard Goldberg.com (via Newsbusters):

An Obama mouthpiece suppressing information that puts a member of the opposing team in a good light? Say it ain’t so!
That we will probably never know.
Unless it’s in Cheney’s book?
Sad but true. Shocking, isn’t it?!
;o)
It has not exactly been a secret to long time members of this forum that W volunteered for Vi tNam service. I read it on hear at the time of or shortly after the original controversy. Unfortunately, I do not have a link or source, just my memory.

Let’s keep one huge thing in mind here. Bush was trained to fly F-102 interceptors from the early ‘60s and, later, the mainstay of the ANG. To go to Viet Nam would have required him to learn, be checked out on and have enough hours in an F-4, which is what the Air Force was flying over there in the late ‘60’s - early ‘70’s. To do this he would have had to go regular Air Force, a six year commitment, I believe, at the time. Anyway, it’s not the equivalent of just jumping into a river patrol boat like Kerry did from a destroyer. And Rather’s unwillingness to tell the whole story is now coming to light again.
