An open letter to the Democrats (vanity)

Open letter to any and all blind party loyalists who can’t see the forest for the branches poking them in the eyes:

The next time any of you begin to complain about all of the “hate” coming from Conservatives in this country, stop and take a hard look at yourself and your comrades. The talk radio hosts that you love to attack are no worse than the Party leaders you blindly follow.

I am a middle aged American who has registered and voted as both a Democrat and a Republican over the years. I have belonged to both parties and I have voted for presidential candidates in both parties. About three years ago, I decided that I no longer wished to be associated with either party. I was fed up with both of them and I have registered as Independent ever since.

While President Bush was President, I watched massive protests. Many of them were filled with emotional people carrying very offensive signs and shouting very angry words. I watched a number of funded organizations coordinate these protests. Code Pink, MoveOn.org, ACORN and other groups received thousands of dollars in funding from billionaire financiers and special interest groups to organize these protests and make as much noise as possible. The mainstream media reported the events without criticism or judgment. The Democrat politicians applauded, defended and encouraged the groups and their protests. They loudly proclaimed that “Dissent is patriotic!” and Hillary Clinton shrieked hysterically about being “sick and tired” of people telling her not to criticize the President

The anger was by no means confined to the staged protests. I heard and saw vicious attacks on the President constantly. Pictures, emails, cartoons, bumper stickers, and jokes called him a village idiot, a monkey, and even a Nazi. His critics were relentless. The criticism was not limited to the President, either. Anyone and everyone associated with, appointed by, or supporting of the President were fair game. Conservative speakers were routinely attacked on college campuses. Many were disrupted and shouted down by angry hecklers while others were even physically attacked. Some were not even allowed to speak after administrators caved to “progressive” demands and cancelled their engagements. I had always thought colleges and universities were proud to proclaim themselves as an open venue for the free exchange of thoughts and ideas, an arena for intellectual debate. What has happened to this country?

Late night comedians, musicians, and a large number of celebrities jumped on the bandwagon and were all given ample time to get their jabs in. Any venue was acceptable – talk shows, concerts, fundraisers, memorials. One narcissistic celebrity blowhard even took out full page ads in newspapers to rant and rave about politics and ideology as if he were some sort of acclaimed political expert qualified to lecture the country on such matters. Perhaps he thinks so highly of his own acting, that he believed he could play the role of educated political scholar well enough to “enlighten” us with his bullshit and convert conservatives into liberals. As it turns out, the delusional high-school dropout succeeded in little more than losing a few fans at the box office by insulting half of his audience.

I do not like the direction our government is taking and for the first time in my life, I decided to exercise a Constitutional Right that I had watched thousands of others exercise. I decided to exercise my God-given and Constitutionally-protected right to freedom of speech by protesting my own government. I had no intent of going to the extremes that I had watched the left-wing protesters exhibit while Bush was President. I only wanted to join others who wanted to peacefully demonstrate their dissatisfaction with recent developments. I discovered that many other people were frustrated with increasing rates of government spending and growth and worried about their future consequences. While many of these people were probably Republicans, most of the people I talked to were Independents and Libertarians and the events were never advertised as GOP events. I was surprised and somewhat pleased to find the crowds were comprised of average, ordinary people of all ages who didn’t really seem to have an awful lot in common other than a dislike for current government actions. The people around me looked much like the same crowd you would see at a county fair or outdoor concert in any town across the country.

Imagine if you will, just how angry you would feel if someone launched an unprovoked attack on you to slander and impugn your character with insults that have absolutely no credible basis. How would that make you feel? Would you be outraged if someone threw all manners of names and insults at you that were completely inaccurate and undeserved? I have attended two TEA parties and one rally. I was not paid to attend these events. I was not rounded up and bussed to these events, and I was not handed any sign to carry or t-shirt to wear. I showed up to join others in a peaceful demonstration to protest recent government actions that have occurred during the past two Presidencies.

Since choosing to attend these events, I have been called a racist, evil, dangerous, an extremist, a radical, un-American, hateful, a bigot, and now a “functionally retarded adult”. Politicians, celebrities, journalists, reporters and “peace loving” liberals have accused me of being stupid, ignorant, and clueless. They say I am not a real grassroots protestor and that I am nothing more than “Astroturf” being paid or bribed by big corporations, lobbyists and Political Action Committees to do their bidding. I have even been compared to the KKK and the Nazis. All this because I am against too much government spending and too much government growth. I am appalled and disgusted by it all.

If all of this despicable behavior was intended to crush my hopes and shut me up, all I can say is “You failed!” Your hypocrisy sickens me. You may have thought your desperate tactics would discredit and discourage me into giving up, but you were wrong. I have never been more disappointed with my government before this nor have I ever been more motivated to speak out against it. I will never forget these attacks nor will I forgive them. Years from now when I teach my children about the origins of their inherited debts, I will be sure they know who is responsible and how I did everything I could to peacefully protest their actions. They will know the truth no matter how hard you try to spin it around in the days to come.

I will not sit idly by while you ruin my country. I will not be intimidated or hushed by your attacks. There will be a backlash for your actions. Count on it.

Our current government/administration reminds me of that typical psycho ex-wife we’ve all either had or have heard about.

I agree. I find these times are more disturbing then the Clinton years, whose policies I believe laid the pathway for 911. Now I believe that preventing this healthcare reform is the only way to preserve our FREEDOM. And Preserving our FREEDOM is the president’s #1 job.

Please do!!!!! None of them like the “heat” they are receiving but TOUGH! They asked for it and hopefully, we’ll see them all out of office after next year. There are a few good ones but for the sake of the country, we need to start fresh with no one beholden to any union, special interest, organization etc. Do such people exist?

Yes, they do but I’m afraid the dems have such a large war chest built up that they will BUY all their seats. That’s after Boxer had the gall to say that the Republicans in CA are going to try to unseat her by BUYING her Senate seat. She ought to know!!!
