I’ve heard estimates that there is about $5 trillion of value of everyone’s IRA or 401K type accounts.

Remember that all of that money is tax exempt until people withdraw money at retirement.

So, with pools of money in the trillions that haven’t been taxed, how long before Obamabots, looking at their trillion dollar deficits, think up ways to start taxing everyone’s retirement savings?

If it happens, it will be all about “fairness” and all that. They will say the money will be taxed in the same way as other income, etc. They might say that it’s unfair that higher income people have been able to save so much money on their own, when we have so many poor grappling with poverty, yadda, yadda, yadda.

It would be sadly ironic if, after years of the government regulations encouraging saving for retirement, that they would change them. This could even make more senior citizens, esp. baby boomer age as they get older, even more dependent on a Social Security system which is going to go bankrupt.

"I think that Bill Gates should get back whatever he put in, because that's his money. It is neither illegal, immoral or irresponsible to be wealthy. And if Bill Gates wants to donate his social security money to the government then that's his right, and his alone".

We do think of them as persons we can discuss these events/action with and create change. WRONG1 They could care less about reasonable discussion. They are set on their agenda and will not be diverted as long as they have the power and the votes in the legislative bodies.

We may well be in a situation where with ill intent and desire to control ALL THINGS they will make laws granting lifetime office to a dictator. Power hungry people like we are looking at now know no boundaries. Believe it!

And all the unimaginable things that it could/will mean. Who is to stop it?

You are correct sir. Laura D’Andrea Tyson was the mastermind of taxing Employer contributions to 401k’s as Current Income and a retroactive 15% on them to make up for them not being taxed in the first place. Now she is an Obama economic adviser. Google “Mrs. Tyson’s Fried Economics” from National Review.

For years I have suffered ridicule for refusing to invest in 401K or IRA accounts preferring to invest in gold, guns and ground (acreage).

It pains me to realize that what was once seen as "paranoia" may now be "prophetic."
