According to an internal correspondence sent to me confidentially, Reverend Finney, the head of the board of trustees, was putting pressure on several members of the Human Resources department at Chicago State University.By the end of May, the Director of HR was summarily dismissed and that position remains unfilled today at that public school. Meanwhile, because the Director of HR was dismissed without cause, they are still earning a severance from CSU. Since CSU is a public school, that means this severance is paid for by the tax payers.

Wonderful Chicago political ethics. Sure glad there’s a strong Chicago connection to the White House...

I can only image how bad it becomes when you combine the typical corruption of the university culture with the political corruption of Chicago.

I've spent most of my working career in academe and I am totally convinced that universities are far more unethical than private businesses. What has always amazed me is the conceited elitism with which universities operate. Since we are the prestigious univesity of so-and-so, our actions are above questioning and even if you have been screwed, well, we are working for the greater good of community at-large.

This is Huessin’s guest at Martha’s Vineyard this week.
More Chicago thugs, friend of Rezko.

I too have spent a lot of my life in academe, and I agree with your insights. There is a lot of hypocrisy, and it is also amusing how so many people with marginal knowledge think they are ‘really bright’. It's also easy to see why there is such great affection in academe for the left. Both envision the same kind of societal structure, where there are some ‘special’ people (i.e. them) and then everyone else beneath them in one big homogeneous mass of humanity. They call that ‘equality’.

A planned economy has the most attraction to those with the hubris to think they would be members of the planning class.

Of course, everyone is equal, it is just that some think they are more equal. It is hard to imagine a place, except maybe Hollywood, which has more inflated egos than academe.

I've reached the point that I am not longer amazed that some academic big-shot is really a pretty dim bulb. Invariably, their personal lives are total train-wrecks.
