"Mama Mia" is an okay musical, probably not for our heterosexual brethren. It does feature pop music from my era, has beautiful scenery, great acting, intriguing characters.
Two things, "Dancing Queen" will roll around in your head for a month after seeing it and the plot line, folks, it's really, really uncomfortable.

Other Blog posts this week:
Dr. Bass became head of the Body Farm at the University of Tennessee.
There dead bodies are studied, rates of decay and other nasty stuff, to help solve crimes, identify the long dead or just so people like myself can read some really interesting stuff about it.
Not for the squeamish.

In Thoughts this week we have a weekly wrap up of Obamacare news, including the most amazing, just revealed on Fox News Sunday today, 8/23/09-the administration's attempt to KILL OFF OUR VETERANS!
The Obama admin sent a spokesperson who they thought would stop the anger but God bless the child for her service to our country but she lied, and lied, and lied, and lied.
They want to kill us, folks, the elderly Vets and citizens, don't let them deny it.
Plus Michelle's shorts, Town Meeting cowards, and the snitch White House web site closed down.
I’m a guy. I like musicals. I really enjoyed Mama-Mia in parts but hated the movie.
And yeah, it was DEFINITELY the story line. It was THE reason I hated it.
I am confused. “Mamma Mia” is a campy musical set to ABBA tunes and its the most popular movie ever in Britain; because of its charm much like “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. Whats the complaint here? Its not gay enough???
Wow. A guy who likes musicals. Good on you.
I hate musicals as much as I hate egg custard, so I will never see it.
What is the story line which was the reason you disliked it.
I just saw Oliver last week in a live performance. Took my 5 year old granddaughter. She loved it.
I loved Mama Mia but there is a real problem with the story line.
Or maybe it’s just me.
Reviews are just opinions after all.
Moma Mia is about a slut who had sex with multiple partners and can’t tell her child who is her father.
Essentially it is the scene where a woman finds out she is pregnant and does not know who her sex partners are or how to get a hold of them.
Obama lied seniors died.
From Wiki:
“The story takes place on a Greek island (Calicos). Sophie, a 20-year old girl, is preparing to marry her fiancé, Sky. She wants her father to walk her down the aisle, (”Prologue: I Have a Dream”) but doesn’t know who he is. Sophie discovers her mother’s old diary and finds entries which describe intimate dates with three men (Sam Carmichael, Bill Andersson, and Harry Bright) (”Honey, Honey”). Sophie believes that one of these men is her father and, three months prior to the wedding, sends each an invitation to her wedding writing as her mother, Donna, without letting her know.
The day before the wedding, Donna begins receiving guests at her taverna. The first to arrive are her old best friends, Tanya, a rich woman who has been married and divorced three times, and Rosie, an unmarried, carefree woman. The trio used to be a girl group called Donna and The Dynamos. The three women catch up and talk about how their lives have been (”Money, Money, Money”).
Later that day, Sophie’s three possible fathers arrive: Sam (an American architect), Harry (a British banker), and Bill (an Swedish writer and adventurer). Sophie convinces them not to tell Donna that she invited them (”Thank You for the Music”). Donna walks into the taverna just as Sophie walks out, and is surprised to see her ex-lovers (”Mamma Mia”). She runs to her room in tears.
Tanya and Rosie are in their room, unpacking their luggage when Donna comes into the room in hysterics. She explains what’s wrong, and they cheer her up, (”Chiquitita”). Tanya and Rosie try to convince Donna that she can still be the girl that she once was (”Dancing Queen”).”

Ah, family values.
I am NOT interested
That sums it up.
“The Blues Brothers” and “1776” are the only two musicals I’ve ever liked.
I am aware of the plot. An ex-hippie woman is not sure who is the father of her daughter from her wild youth.
Does Spamalot count?
Thank you LTM. This is exactly correct.
It’s bothersome how this fact, a pretty serious thing, is kind of just....boom, pushed aside, no big deal.
Loved the music but didn’t seem like the stuff of song and dance.
Hey, it’s a review. It left me conflicted. I liked the music but thought the storyline was awful.
LOL. I hope you didn’t see Mama Mia for the plot. As far as the singing went in the movie, forget it.
she never bothered to find out. Instead she voluntarily chose single motherhood.
I thought they just lipsynched to Abba.
