Here is video of Actress Patricia Heaton on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?", playing for charity. The scene that unfolds you will not believe if you have not seen it. On the very first question, Heaton is asked a simple math question that just dumbfounds her. It's painful to watch! Host Regis Philbin was exhausted by the time it was over! . . . . (Watch Video)

WHAT! Every student worth his salt knows Euler’s identity and that you can simplify the integration of sines and cosines by just converting them into their exponential equivalents! Even an IDIOT knows that!

I got the $7.50 easy but that isn’t the correct answer.

No, the question was
a multiple choice, answers
a little tricky:
If a Euro is worth $1.50, five Euros is worth what?
Her choices are A.) 30 quarters, B.) 50 dimes, C.) 70 nickels, and D.) 90 pennies.

But the wrong answers made it very simple. By process of elimination, it should have been simple. But you are right, pressure of the moment can turn your mind to jelly sometimes. But she is an actress and is used to being in front of people.
To: sr4402
But the answer wasn’t $7.50, it was 30 quarters.

eliminate three answers
and get the right one!

25% of North American population can not do the basic math. That's why there are so many sales deals (e.g. buy one, get another 50% off) exploiting it. That's why there is a skill testing question on sweepstakes - organizers keep some prizes for themselves that way.
It has nothing to do with education or IQ. Anyone who is vulnerable should be fully aware of it and stay clear of any deal involving ANY math.

Well, if you watch the whole segment, she gets the answer right.
To: Mr. K
As I tell my wife break the problem down.
Do 3 quarters first.
When you have the answer to that multiply it by 10 (add a zero).
You will then have your correct answer.
