The family of legendary conservative journalist Robert Novak has announced that he passed away earlier today at his home after a long battle with brain cancer. Novak was 78.
I have long admired Robert Novak. He was conservative, but he was not afraid to report the truth about Democrats and Republicans alike. I did not always agree with him, but I greatly respect him.
Novak wrote the story of his life as a reporter in Washington in the outstanding book, Prince of Darkness. I wrote a review of that book after reading it and posted it here back in November of last year. That post also includes a video interview Charlie Rose did with Novak about the book. It's one of the best books I have read on politics and journalism in Washington. I highly commend it to you. My condolences go out to his family. He will be greatly missed.

I use to love the debate between Donaldson and Novak at the CPAC conferences.
