Good points made by DeMint. And I didn’t hear any “Grrrr”. LOL
“Cash for clunkers” went exactly as planned. They convinced people and auto dealers to pony up their own money to get
“some a dat free gubmint munny”.
Then, the government weaseled out on their end of the deal.
It’s the old fox and snake story all over again. (”What did you expect? I’m a snake.”)
Cash for Clunkers killing business at used car lots, Shrinking inventory driving used car prices UP!
And the working poor, buyers and sellers of used cars suffer. http://www.wsmv.com/automotive/20388933/detail.html
“About 60 percent of the cars traded in under the clunkers program would have ended up resold on used lots or at auctions, Whann said. If, as expected, 750,000 vehicles are traded in under Cash for Clunkers, that's 450,000 cars and trucks won't make it to the used-car market”
another brillant govnerment policy that hurt the poor
CNN Money propagandist Poppy loses the 1st argument to Senator DeMint’s well reasoned reply and then tries to outflank him on her Democrat-Crime-Syndicate-talking-points-onto-the-next-topic tactic.
Eye candy that will rot your mind.
Government cannot handle a CAR PAYMENT... I SURE don’t want them Controlling MY DOCTOR!!!!
A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion says, "Because if I do, I will die too."
The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown, but has just enough time to gasp "Why?"
Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..."
~Aesop
Mismanagement? It was pure idiocy from the beginning. It increased overall pollution per mile driven.
Aesop uses the frog and scorpion. The Southern version uses the fox and snake. Same moral.
this is not an isolated case.
It was the wording in the gov’t application process that tricked them up. They get a person with a “clunker’ to swap for a new car.
They put the application into the gov’t form on the computer.
They get a “application accepted” notice.
They sell the car, the new owner drives off - BUT, now the gov’t rejects the sale saying the word ‘accepted’ only applied to the application.
Totally misleading.
If this was only for the application and not approval, it should have said something like “application received, pending.”
Was this a very dumb oversight by the gov’t - and their army of lawyers? or a calculated maneuver? How many dealerships will this put out of business? How many of thee dealerships are contributors to the republicans? Where are the old time investigative reporters?
