This is the same government that wants to take over your health care. Many auto dealers are getting upset that the government is being very slow paying them back the money they laid out for the Cash for Clunkers program.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that some dealerships are owed more than $100,000 resulting in difficulty making payroll:
It [Cash for Clunkers] has generated the most showroom traffic they have had in months while at the same time heaping unease, frustration and worry onto the industry's worst-ever downturn.
As of the close of business Friday, there was talk in the industry that some dealers are considering pulling out of the clunkers program altogether.
"A number of dealers have floated $100,000 to upwards of $1 million or more" on the clunkers program, said Bill Sepic, president of the Wisconsin Automobile & Truck Dealers Association.

You racist!
*snort*
I vote for larry the cable guy to be the healthcare czar!!! Go LARRY!! Woo Hoo!
Actually, the government figured we were all getting screwed enough by them, so we didn't need anymore sex from anywhere else....
Being in subprime auto finance I can guarantee you I would have dealers cursing me and vowing to never talk to me again if I took 3 weeks to pay. A dealership is a cash flow machine and waiting on 100,000’s of thousands of dollars will crunch the biggest dealers.
I have to wonder if these dealers will ever see anything other than an iou from the govt.
I hope the dealers get stiffed on the deal just to teach them not to make deals with the devil. Can you imagine government healthcare?

People need to be shone a little more government pain to wake up and this is good medicine for the dealers thinking there was a candy store in Washington. There is no candy and no store but just a bunch of lying,cheating/stealing/defrauding politicians and the federal reserve printing up phony money backed via nothing. What a ponzi scheme/fraud!
Welcome to the govenment glacial speed payment system. I have put up with it for decades. Even with an electronically filed “clean claim” for Medicare, it often takes months to get paid. One of the many reasons why doctors hate Medicare (in addition to the fact that they pay about 70% what private insurance pays for the same procedure)
Just let one of these dealerships be a day late making their tax deposit because the government hasn't paid them yet!
I'm sure this is just an aberration. I mean look how well the government manages the post office. (/sarcasm)
Give them some time... the printing press is overloaded these days. /sarc
Rudy: Charlie, I broke my back getting you this deal. You know that...
Charlie: Fifty bucks never killed anybody.
Rudy: [pressing] You're not going to find another deal like this anywhere in town.
Charlie: Fifty bucks never killed anybody.
Rudy: [pleading] We shook hands on this... a deal's a deal.
Charlie: Fifty bucks never...
Rudy: [throws up his hands in mock disgust] Okay Charlie, you got it, you win - I'll see what I can do... But I'm telling ya, my boss sees these figures, he's going to have a stroke.
[exits]
Charlie: [scoffs] What's he trying to pull? Fifty bucks never killed anybody.
Charlie: [Luke bursts in, red face and clutching his chest - Charlie panics] Okay, it's a deal, it's a deal! I'll sign! I'll sign!
[Rudy is planning to break into a presidential broadcast with a commercial]
Jeff: For Christ's sake, we're *uckin' with the President of the United States.
Rudy: He *ucks with us, doesn't he?
Thats not throwing in with the government. The dealers are independent businessmen and if you owned a dealership, you would not allow your customers to shop down the street where all the rat trades are worth 4500.
None of the dealers got in bed with the government.
Bureaucrat: We didn't get your recap report on the clunkers program yet as required by section 10, page 101 of the participation agreement. As you must be aware this is required by law.
Dealer: I didn't participate so you'll be getting no recap from us.
Bureaucrat: Our records show that in July alone you sold 89 cars under the program and have billed us for $400,500.
Dealer: If you know this and have my billing why in the hell do you 1. need the information that you have in front of you again and 2. why haven't you paid me the $400,000 I need to pay my bills.
Bureaucrat: We'll need the recap and analysis reports in order to begin processing payment. I just noticed that you're not on the list of approved clunker dealers list. I'll also need to see the authorization forms that were sent to you in June allowing your dealership to participate.
Form 11-45B-5689G. We'll consider overlooking that form if you'll just forward the recap and analysis reports.
Dealer: This is extortion. How dare you...
Bureaucrat: Please don't make accusations to me. If you like I'll put on my supervisor, Rahm Emanuel and you can be abusive to him. I don't have to listen to your rudeness.
Rahm: This is Mr. Emanuel. I've listened to this conversation and before we continue it I have only one thing to say. Send the F***ing reports in or we'll break you F***ing kneecaps.
Dealer: They've just be sent sir.

So now they’re not getting their kickback? Well boo hoo for them.
