Ah. Our favorite past time: Putting care packages together.
Anysoldier.com is our usual source, but we'll add these folks to the list.

This week walgreens has 2.99 Colgate and you get 2.99 rewards back. You can’t roll it into Colgate again but you can roll it into:

Next week it is Softsoap.

If anyone wants a good first hand account of how much these men need supplies...check out this from a medic who needs the most basic things:

"I am representing a squad of medics (XXXX persons total) from the 228th CSH in Texas stationed in Iraq. We are attatched to the TF 14th MED for the duration for our deployment and work in a Combat Support Hospital and do other missions (opsec, sorry). We are currently in billets . The biggest thing that we are in short supply of is socks and underwear. The socks have to be green and long neck and the underwear Boxer briefs, any color, just something to wear.
If you can magically get your hands on medical supplies please, please send them; i.e. ace wraps, bandages, NPA's and OPA's, pulse oximeters, smelling salts, stethoscopes, BP cuffs, any OTC is appreciated (bottle of motrin, aspirin, tyleneol...), we go through them fast with the soldiers and a lot of times I have to pull teeth out to get the supplies we need.
If you are able to send anything to pick up the down time like cards that would help pass the year along we would appreciate it. I also have a couple of soldiers that use tobacco products so if you could send some cigars they would greatly appreciate it, they might even kiss you when we get back state side, I guarentee I will if we can get some medical supplies. "

When our sons were deployed, we found green socks at an Army surplus store near here. Later, the USMC was looking the other way when the Marines wore white socks, and one of my son’s friends had said on his 2nd Iraq deployment that he didn’t care if he got anything else in care packages, if he could have a new pair of socks for each day, it would mean the world to him. Also I actually bought Ritz dye, and dyed some long underwear for my son, which seemed to have been allowed by USMC.

Just forwarded it on to son who graduated OCS last Saturday. We'll see what we can get going from St. Louis. I know that a large contingent of Anysoldier.com folks are already putting as much together as they can, but no Marine should have to go without socks, ace bandages or OTC pain killers. THAT we can handle.

Thanks for the heads-up. I know his "Commissioning" ceremony is a huge event, but maybe we can fore go some of the pomp and put the money towards taking care of those who need us.

The ace bandages and pain killers are from a medic on Anysoldier. I was just posting it as an example of how our military is treating our soldiers. I don’t want to post his name but you can do a search on the site. It is from this month.
