Member of European Parliament Daniel Hannan warned Americans of the dangers of government-run healthcare on the Friday edition of the Glenn Beck Program.
Hannan, a Conservative who represents Southeast England in the European Parliament, said of the British National Health Service (NHS), The most striking thing about it is that you are very often sent to the back of the queue.
Beck noted the lengthy waiting times for care under Britains socialist National Health Service (NHS). These figures were provided by the BBC on May 27, 2009:
*cataract surgery 8 months *hip replacement 11 months *knee replacement 12 months *slipped disc 5 months *hernia repair 5 months
Although to be fair, Hannan said, the NHS provides not so bad care with children but the worst thing to be is elderly under a system like ours. Said Hannan:
I could tell you horror stories about elderly people left starving in wards, and the amazing thing is, why do we put up with it? The reason we put up with it for so long is because it has become such a huge system. Its got such an enormous bureaucracy based around it. We have 1.4 million people employed by the National Health Service.

I’;m from the UK and I have been telling anyone and everyone about the national health care
when I meet those on the left I tell them the horrors and how it IS NOT FREE
sad part is that they still would rather beleive a guy who popped out of nowhere and tells them it is great and who has never lived it against folks like me who has lived it and seen the horrors including the death of folks due to the national health care
"The NHS is the third largest employer on the planet after the Red Army in Communist China and the Indian national railways. Most of those 1.4 million people are administrators, Hannan said.
"And the existence of that huge electoral bloc makes it impossible to get rid of the system," Hannan said.
“be quiet and get out of the way so we can make this mess”....BHO [/s]
I’ve got relatives in England and Canada, but I’ve never talked to them about their opinions on their healthcare. My husband has an American cousin that has lived in England for 11 years. He loves socialism as that was his lifestyle while he was growing up in the States—government “freebies”. He claims that people like you don’t exist. He says everyone loves the NHS and that no politician will come out against it. Daniel Hannan seems to be speaking out.
The arrogant ruling elites are convinced that they are so much smarter than anyone else, they don't need to listen because they CAN'T be WRONG, or;
They have an agenda that requires the government control such a huge portion of people's lives and the national GDP.
What was that definition of insanity that was thrown agaisnt Bush 42 during his re-election attempt . . .
Insanity is when you keep trying the same thing that has failed before (or in this case, everywhere else), and expect different results.
Who needs THIS????!!!!... we are already incubating a dictatorship here. I wish Americans would take their heads out of their a^%$#!!!
Bingo!! By any other name, it is tyranny.
The American idea, as expressed in the Declaration and structured into a government, was that "We, the People" bind down the government "by the chains of the Constitution." (Jefferson) Article V of that Constitution was intended to assure that constitutional limits on power could be changed only by the express act of the people, through the amendment process prescribed therein.
This attempted power grab is the Executive and Legislative branches combining to thwart the people's rights to limit the size and scope of government by expanding its spending powers ("taking" power) under guise of a health care "emergency," and it should not stand.
Death rates for various cancers are also considerably higher in the UK than in the US.
there’s plenty who hate the national health care believe me
I’ve wrote in past posts about the disgusting national health in the UK and you can go and read them
one of the biggest lies or mis-truths the left make is that they say wow you have free health care
er not, we pay for it through our high taxes and VAT.
if it is so good why does the UK have a much higher rate of death, cancer death, lack of medicene for patients and why are more and more folk going private.
for anyone and it is usually the latte drinking guardian readers and the BBC watches who say the UK health care is great then ask why more and more people are fed up of it.
I have been affected first hand and seen people die because of it.
things like my mother waiting nearly 11 months for her cancer results inthat time her husband dies from cancer
waiting lists to see a GP
wAITING WEEKS TO SEE A doc
hospitals closing
the list is endless but you can read my past posts
I’ve been through the American one and the UK one
who do you want to believe for you lefty’s
the champagne socialists who love the Govt and do not live under it like bozo or someone who is working class and has lived under it?
now you can say to him that we do exist and many of us do
Ive been through the American one and the UK one who do you want to believe for you leftys the champagne socialists who love the Govt and do not live under it like bozo or someone who is working class and has lived under it?
Oh, I already know what I believe about socialism. Basically was just being sarcastic about my husband's cousin claiming that everyone in England loves it.
I don't know why I've never asked my relatives about it. I should. I'm sure my mom lived under it. She escaped in 1959, but was only 21 and I doubt she was thinking about it in the terms we think about it. It was just the way things were for her. Then she was under the doctors with our American military system :)
my 78 year old mother will be over soon if all goes well.
she is traveling alone so I hope she gets help on and off the plane but she grew up in the second world war and remembers how the Germans were bombing our city
manchester
she remembers when health care came in and it was a good idea but the monster grew and grew out of control and this is the problem and bozo knows it
we will never get rid of it once it is in place
I come from a big city so the wait time is much longer but if a town hall meeting is going on then I will ask my mam if she wants to say something to the crowd.
I grew up with this health care and so I knew no better, it was when I came here and found I never had to wait for weeks to see a Doc.
things like that surprised me and then I saw how bad health care was back in England
your mother did the right thing getting away
After I left the service I saw how the country I gave so many years for had changed
no go areas for English folk
health care down the drain
hospitals closing
crime horrible, I took my wife and she saw on her first night out in Salford another girl in the pub came out with some glass sticking out of her face.
she had been potted which is a normal thing to happen.
I could rant on but I won’t bore you but my kids are doing great here and they know how lucky they are to be in America and have the chances they do
what grated me and yes I said something was when I became American I saw people after the ceremony throw their flags?(they were given) into the bin
some never put their hand on heart
and it really grates me when those on the left put down this country.
These spoilt idiots need to go and live over in another country and then see how lucky they were
