All throughout August, our members of Congress are back in town. Insurance companies and partisan attack groups are stirring up fear with false rumors about the President's plan, and it's extremely important that folks like you speak up now.
So we've cooked up an easy, powerful way for you to make a big impression: Office Visits for Health Reform.
All this week, OFA members like you will be stopping by local congressional offices to show our support for insurance reform. You can have a quick conversation with the local staff, tell your personal story, or even just drop off a customized flyer and say that reform matters to you.
We'll provide everything you need: the address, phone number, and open hours for the office, information about how the health care crisis affects your state for you to drop off (with the option of adding your personal story), and a step-by-step guide for your visit.
According to our records, you live near Rep. J. Forbes's office in Colonial Heights, VA.
Sign up now to visit Rep. J. Forbes's office in Colonial Heights this week.
(Not your representative, or think there might be another office that's easier for you to get to? Click here to find a different office.)
As you've probably seen in the news, special interest attack groups are stirring up partisan mobs with lies about health reform, and it's getting ugly. Across the country, members of Congress who support reform are being shouted down, physically assaulted, hung in effigy, and receiving death threats. We can't let extremists hijack this debate, or confuse Congress about where the people stand.
Office Visits for Health Reform are our chance to show that the vast majority of American voters know that the cost of inaction is too high to bear, and strongly support passing health reform in 2009.
Don't worry if you've never done anything like this before. The congressional staff is there to listen, and your opinion as a constituent matters a lot. And if you bring a friend, you'll have more fun and make an even greater impact.

Wherever you live, these visits matter: Many representatives are pushing hard toward reform, and they are taking a lot of heat from special interests. They deserve our thanks and need our support to continue the fight. But those who are still putting insurance companies and partisan point-scoring ahead of their constituents must know that voters are watching -- and that we expect better.
Earlier this week, the President wrote that "this is the moment our movement was built for" and asked us all to commit to join at least one event this month. This is the way to answer that call, and rise to the challenge of this moment together.
Thank you for going the extra mile when it matters the most,
Mitch

Sounds like a plan.
Sign up and then visit and educate your Congressional staff about all of the Orwellian provisions in the House health care bill that will lead to the destruction of private health insurance and the government’s takeover of the doctor/patient relationship.
What’s the tax status of ‘Organizing for America”? They are apparently housed at the DNC, so they absolutely should not be tax exempt. Plus, as a political organization linked to the administration shouldn’t they have to state thin on all the literature they send out, and when speaking to people? If they are in violation we need to shine a light on this.
"You can have a quick conversation with the local staff, tell your personal story,
or even just drop off a customized flyer and say that reform matters to you.

“You can have a quick conversation with the local staff, tell your personal story, or even just drop off a customized flyer and say that reform matters to you.”
Yup Obama wants you to tell a sob story about how you have some horrible health problem, and can’t afford health insurance, and need a government option. No where in this marching order does it say to bring up the facts about the bills...hmmm...I wonder why...
Oh Good.
Meet fire with fire.
“Across the country, members of Congress who support reform are being shouted down, physically assaulted, hung in effigy, and receiving death threats. We can’t let extremists hijack this debate, or confuse Congress about where the people stand.”
However...if you oppose AIG, then by all means go to their house and protest, and send them death threats.
Their words.....and very telling....welcome to the new nazi party
Yeah and all the while these masters of organizing have been complaining like wide eyed hypocrites on speed about anyone organizing against the government takeover of health care.
“Earlier this week, the President wrote that “this is the moment our movement was built for” and asked us all to commit to join at least one event this month.”
So this means people who oppose the presidents plan too right?
Yeah and they blame CPR(Conservatives for Patients Rights) for doing this and I’ve never gotten any marching orders. No call your congressman, no meetings or meetups. There may be some organizing but when conservatives organize it isn’t because some one has ordered us to do something.
Yeah I would suppose so.
“As you’ve probably seen in the news, special interest attack groups are stirring up partisan mobs with lies about health reform...”
No, actually I haven’t seen that. Unless you are saying that Organizing for America and HCNC are lieing. Their are no special interest behind the mobs at the town hall meetings.
No, I still don't think we should send out things like this that are so full of lies and hype. Total PROPAGANDA. Not actual information to help them make their own decisions. If we do this kind of thing...Then we are not the Grassroots we claim to be.
Notice how the email alludes to bringing another for FUN! Not for serious understanding and their own questioning. FUN??? For something so important!
Next they will be told they will get free sandwiches and cigarettes if they show up.
I know Forbes' local office. It is a tiny little place in a small area of a shopping center. Not even enough room inside for 10 people let alone crowds. Normal, civilized people coming to ask questions could line up outside. But combine that with those who want to agitate and have no understanding of the bill and why we are there...oh my, what a mess!
If Obama and his henchmen in DC were all that sure of the greatness of his plan, they wouldn't have to call out his Brownshirts to keep the grassroots questioners quiet. It is so obvious they know how bad the HC plan is for us and how good it is for the government control of Americans.
I feel like I am living in a nightmare (or in Cuba...or under Hitler as we have said)with Obama as resident in the WH!
I have agreed that he is a narcissist. Worse, he is maniacal! Insecure, frightened, lying leader with no love at all for America or Americans. And along with the bunch of the Communists in government now, it is a snake pit of seething vipers!
“But those who are still putting insurance companies and partisan point-scoring ahead of their constituents must know that voters are watching — and that we expect better.”
Yup, the voters are watching, and we do expect better.
I’ve can’t recall any President demonizing a very significant portion of his fellow citizens as the enemy. But then again, I’m young, so maybe there’s precedent for this. I guess Woodrow Wilson did have political enemies locked up, huh?
“Many representatives are pushing hard toward reform, and they are taking a lot of heat from special interests.”
I guess the American people, or as Nancy would call us, un-American people are now “special interest”.
They’re calling it ‘insurance reform’ now?
