Here is a video report on a fatal crash that occurred during a police chase in California, just south of Fresno. The crash killed seven people, including four small children. The report delves into the issue of whether or not high-speed police chases should be conducted, or curtailed in some way. . . . . (Watch Video)

It was a stolen car being chased. Basically, they are recovering for the insurance company. In doing this, the lives of innocents are the higher value.
Think of some of the *most effective* law enforcement units in history. Hoover’s FBI, The Pre ‘64 Texas Rangers, even evil agencies like Gestapo and NKVD. None were known for idiotic car chases. They were all known for meticulous fact finding, and then a knock on the door.
Exposing the community to this kind of mayhem is outrageous.
I take issue with loose children in the bed of a pick up truck.

Bullshit,bullshit.
I believe 5 kids have died now, bouncing around on the backseat, while the parents had belts on.
The parents survived but all the kids are ejected from the vehicle..
If those kids had child restraints they would all be alive.
Blaming it on the cops what a bunch of bull.
Post over on DU they are already blaming the cops.

None of those “effective” law enforcement units you just listed were operating in an environment where perpetrators of felonies routinely got into cars to flee into traffic immediately after committing their crimes. The fact is, if they aren’t pursued, then it’s very likely they will get away scot free.
How much more outrage will there be in the general public when the crime rate soars because police policy is to not pursue the thugs?
From my spot here in the Midwest—you folks in California have lost control. The bottom feeders that visit so much misery on California have defenders that default to just a stolen car or just a cultural misunderstanding or just hardworking people that are looking for a better life or.... The police in California are hardly the source of the majority of your “mayhem”. It is clear that Mexico City has more political juice there than Sacramento.
The only good thing to come out of this story is that the three thugs who jacked the car were killed. The rest is sheer tragedy. A freak accident. The thugs may have merely seen a patrol car nearby and taken off and killed other innocents at another intersection. Or they may have been on their way to rob a Wendys where they would herd the employees into a freezer and shoot them in the head. Who knows?
Blaming the cops is as lame as it gets.
the cops should not endanger the public.....
and over a stolen vehicle yet?......insane....
okay....if a kidnapping is in progress or a murderer is getting away....but to have a car chase over a stolen vehicle?>..
Whatever.
Awful!
Typical MSNBC blaming the police. I am sure now the cop along with the county are going to be sued. Unbelievable...
I am sure the cop in pursuit (doing his job) will probably be back on the job hunt as long as they do not send him to prison.
When they’re not tazering old people, and any time they might have to get their uniform dirty, they’re generating income for the statists and protecting insurance companies.
I once had respect for law enforcement. But the bigger this government gets the harder it is to respect the tip of their sword.
How can I separate the cop from what he/she represents?
Yet another hazard when you allow your government to get out of hand—the police protect the system, for good, or ill.
