GOP lost 2006 and 2008 because the independents (35 percent of voters) were tire of the war, job losses to overseas, inaction on illegal immigration, and when the stock market blew up (too much trust in Wall Street) they went 60 to 40 for Obama. Today the ratio is the other way against Obama. GOP need to stick to three things, job creation, worker can keep more of his gross pay, and government will leave the worker alone and the GOP will retake the House in 2010 and maybe the Senate/WH in 2012.

The Politico reports this morning on the DNC's state-of-the-art voter file and field plans noting that "[a]fter years of struggling to catch up to the Republican Party's sophisticated microtargeting efforts, the Democratic National Committee appears to have come close to parity."

Well, it was going to happen at some point. Truth is you can microtarget all you want, but it always comes down to getting out the vote on election day.

Great graphic! I envy you guys. If I typed a thousand words there's a good chance I still couldn't convey the message you just have with your graphic. Keep it up.

(On behalf of myself and others, perhaps, do you create these, or are they available online to re-print?)

He's not from Missouri but from Saturday Night Live. When the show starts, you'll eventually hear, "Live from Minnesota, It's Saturday Night Live!" The tumor has spread, that's all.

Regardless of whether we agree with their tactics or not, the Democratic Party always has a plan.....Republicans NEVER does! A big problem when you have one party working hard to get the vote out and other tactics.

to post 2.

GOP lost 2006 and 2008 because voters were tired of Bush and his
occupation of Iraq.

“Audience member: If you have this great message and you have to turn it over to the opposition’s message machine — it’s like if you’re in court and you ask the opposing attorney to explain your story — how do we overcome that?

BO: Well, look, can the Democrats do a better job delivering a message? Absolutely. But this may reveal some naiveté on my part, and so I offer this with some hesitance. I don’t think that the Democrats will be effective simply by trying to mimic what the Republicans have done. First of all, we’re not as good at it. I think that if we express ourselves clearly, concisely, and are willing to take risks and describe what we believe in our guts as a party, then I think we can be successful. Now, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t rapidly respond to untruths and that we don’t have to create an infrastructure to get our message out effectively. I think we do. And it would be wonderful if we had a network, so if you happen to have a lot of money, let me talk to you.”

Actually post 2 is correct. Sure Iraq was a big part of the changes in public opinion, but it was a variety of factors. The Dems campaigned on the ‘culture of corruption’ not Iraq. They did so because they simultaneously won back those independents saying the GOP had failed, and also depressed the GOP turnout. Polling on voters that day did not rank Iraq as the reason they voted Dem.
