Lousy graduation rate -- might have something to do with the NEA controlling education... Ya think?
It might have something to do with the fact that Mexican-Americans don’t think that education is that important.
My DIL’s family was in New Mexico before Coronado or Onate and no-one that they knew had ever graduated from high school, it just wasn’t that important. I nagged at her to get a GED and then one day she decided that she couldn’t live without a high school diploma. The schools accomodated her and she received her diploma ten years after she should have. She has 2 semesters of college and she’ll be getting her degree.
None of our schools made AYP but we only have a 17% drop out rate.
