If there’s anything good that has come out of this ... it is that there are millions of little, innocent dogs in households all over the planet that have been spared at least one good kicking.

Oh my .... I'm sitting here giggling and wiping my eyes! Thanks for keeping things in perspective!

If Republicans can’t come up with a candidate that isn’t all about cashing in, whether it’s board of directors spots, speaking fees, or book deals, then they are no better than the Democrats. Watching politicians incomes go from six figures to seven and eight figures speaks volumes.

I read that their income is now five figures since she resigned (which was for good reasons as stated above), and Sarah and Todd have five children (one a special needs child) and a half million dollars in legal bills. I guess you would have her punished for having a daughter give birth out of wedlock by the family declaring bankruptcy.

From the article you posted:
And for Palin, well, she learned that bailing out can really rub people the wrong way. Wonder if she’s heard that before?
How does one bail out when one hasn't 'bailed in' in the first place?

Understood, well said, and sympathized with. That's Ziegler's style. But believe me, he is NO O'Reilly. O'Reilly has no political compass; Ziegler does, and IMO, it's as strong as that of Rush and Levin, as I said before. A rare thing indeed.

As for him having special knowledge, yes, actually, he would be QUITE the person to have that knowledge, as he has done an entire documentary about how the MSM sabotaged Palin, working closely with Palin and featuring many in-depth interviews with her in Alaska. On the first day a or two of his latest talk show that premiered a few months ago on a little podunk station in Southern California (I can't remember its call letters offhand right now ... ) that has a lousy signal but which took a chance on hiring Ziegler just the same, he had Sarah on as a call-in guest, and the things she said to him during the show made national news. You may have heard it referenced on national media and on the Rush Limbaugh show -- yes, that was Ziegler, and Rush mentioned him by name more than once.

It's pretty safe to say that Johh Ziegler has a more extensive reporter-journalist relationship with Sarah than any other political pundit in America.

AS Michael Reagan said re convention night:

Wednesday night I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he’s a she.
In one blockbuster of a speech, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resurrected my Dad’s indomitable spirit

Exactly. 18 False ethics charges that were thrown out and at the cost to Palin $500,000 + proving them False.

Over 1 year of TV, Radio, MSM Press, Blogs full of lies against both her and her family. The recent was the bogus divorce story that was blown open by Sarah’s atty.

All of her children were ripped in this media.

Have been following campaigns for at least 50 years, and have never seen anything close to the slander and bashing that Palin has had to put up with.

Her primary professed reason for quitting was her self declared and confusing lame duck status. The other professed reason was ethics costs to the state, which were created in part by her because of the ethics laws she helped craft and pass. In particular, those laws made it difficult to raise money for legal defense funds. She created them, IMO she should have stayed and changed them. At the very least, it was a critical mistake by her admin which I don't see getting acknowledged.

I keep seeing people say she quit primarily because she was getting attacked in the media (she was, still is and it is unfair), contradicting her comments. However, by her own account she is a pitbull with lipstick and can take it. Regarding the unfair attacks on her family, she, along with help, forced Lettermen to apologize for his comments and the public tide was turning, it was great to finally see. What makes no sense is the idea that she will run for President and not be attacked even moreso; it will be much worse. Assuming she wins, expect the ethics complaints to dwarf those in Alaska in number and cost. Based on her comments, logically speaking, running for President is untenable.

Yet Reagan’s son, Ron Reagan, is an openly homosexual liberal. What was that about not being able to instill conservative principles in their own children?

Their stated net worth during the campaign was approximately $1 million, which was the monetary value of their lifetime of work.

Since going back to Alaska, their net worth has been cut in half in just 9 months by the campaign to bankrupt them. She is out of work and Todd's income is about $90K/yr. It was costing her more to stay in office than to if she left the job, a crazy situation. That's the Alinskyites for ya.

Does she have big income potential from her book deal and future speaking fees? Of course she does but these people are not rich by Beltway standards.

Once she has secured her family's future, I expect to see her REALLY open up in defense of America. The sooner the better.

Reagan was never a quitter, reason enough.

Is that why Reagan's son said Palin was his dad in high heels?

$90K per year is still five figures and doesn’t go near as far as it would in the lower 48. The family is middle class by any standard. And compared to Obama, Biden, Kennedy, Pelosi and most other Rats, they are downright poor! Agree completely she will do what anyone in her position would: Secure the family’s future first.

(She created them, IMO she should have stayed and changed them.)

Now that Palin is gone, the new AK Gov and Attorney General are proposing to new laws to curtail bad faith ethics complaints. It is getting some support in the AK legislature. The remaining politicans don’t want Palin supporters to file bogus ethics complaints for pay back. If Palin stayed on, ethics complaints may have gone nowhere.

And his daughter Patty was socially and politically awful...nothing like her dad.

Maureen was a Republican but liberal on social issues such as being pro-choice.

Michael is the one - of four - to track down the line with his dad.

Ok, help me out with this...Ron Reagan is married to a woman and has been for many years.

Also, an online bio of him identifies his sexual orientation as “straight”.

So where did the statement derive from that he’s an “openly homosexual liberal”?

Yes he’s a raging lib but “openly homosexual”?

Read Meg’s statement.

No where does it say Sarah planned on attending.

In fact, she had an existing commitment.

LOL!

You're making it hard for me to be gracious!

I don't know Meghan Stapleton well enough (yet) to call her an incompetent buffoon, but from what I **do** know of the event on THIS end, SOMEBODY on the Palin staff really appears to have dropped the ball on this one. :(

From www.politico.com:

As repeatedly stated to several in the media over the last week, former Governor Sarah Palin is not committed to attend the Simi Valley Republican Women’s event at the Reagan Library and in fact is not attending the event. Neither the Governor’s state staff nor SarahPAC has ever committed to attending this event or speaking at this event, and even requested that the Governor’s name be removed from the invitation several weeks ago. The Governor has other work and commitments to take care of at that time. She looks forward to visiting her friends in California soon.

All event requests must be confirmed with Meghan Stapleton of SarahPAC. Additionally, all invitations bearing the Governor’s name must be approved by her attorney before proceeding.

Thank you.
Meghan Stapleton

>>>>>

Again, in my not so humble opinion:

1 - They missed a HUGE opportunity for positive PR by not having Governor Palin appear at this "shrine of conservatism" RIGHT NOW -- when our side is DESPARATELY in need of a leader -- and at a time when EVERYBODY wants to know what Sarah Palin is going to do next.

Providence dropped this GOLDEN opportunity into their lap, and they punted.

Oh, well. Maybe they have a BETTER idea for where and when to hold Governor Palin's "coming out" party. We shall see.

But "at the Reagan Library -- NOW!" would have been awesome.

2 - I will admit to being a little distracted lately with NON-political activities lately -- and I do not watch television -- but it is difficult for me to understand how the Palin camp "repeatedly stated to several in the media over the last week" that Sarah would not be at this event -- and that fact was not reported prominently here on FR. (It may have been mentioned SOMEWHERE, in one of the many OTHER Palin threads posted here -- but there was no THREAD TITLE specifically about this denial that I could find.)

O.K., so maybe there is a media blackout about all things pro-Palin, but the FACEBOOK announcement certainly got good exposure here FR, and elsewhere.

As stated earlier, if Governor Palin was definitely NOT going to be at this event, they needed to get this word out MUCH earlier than they did -- within HOURS of when the story that she WOULD be there broke on AP, just after her Fourth of July resignation.

Waiting until the week before the event is just not acceptable -- if you want to play in the "big leagues."

3 - Finally, there is no way that whoever wrote that they "even requested that the Governor’s name be removed from the invitation several weeks ago" could POSSIBLY have seen the actual invitation.

I'm not even on the Governor's staff, and **I** had no trouble getting a copy of the "official" invitation.

It is in a .pdf file, beautifully engraved -- like a wedding announcement with a HUGE (8 1/2 x 11) photograph of Governor Palin on the outside cover, with the words "An Evening with Sarah Palin" printed on it.

This was clearly NOT "We're having a little get-together, and Sarah Palin MIGHT be there" -- she was clearly billed the MAIN EVENT.

If the Palin people had NO intention of her being there, they should have jumped on the Simi Valley group with both feet, and had them issue a full retraction.

There is no way that they could simply "take her name off the invitation" -- particularly since the invitations apparently went in the mail WEEKS ago.

Again, perhaps the Palin team meant well, and didn't want to hurt the feelings of their supporters in Simi Valley -- but this snafu had better be a "teaching moment" that they all can learn from.

Fortunately, the damage this time was not as bad as it COULD have been.

And, thank Heaven for that.

We NEED President Palin!

You think Congress would be any different? By her own precedent, she would quit as President if her efforts were blocked/stalled by Congress, and/or ethics complaints abused or Independent Counsel appointed (a huge cost). Clearly, her ethics reform was a mistake then and ended up being bad for the state. Leadership dictates you stay and fight for more reform to solve the problem.
