I don't know all that much about TR... but figured if they put his puss up there with Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson, he must be in pretty good company?

Actually he stated that the Democrat Party quit him. But he did quit smoking. :)

Hmm...I didn’t think about that. If that statement was a lie, she’s not culpable at all.

I kept reading she was committed to spaek...so someone was blowing smoke.

I hope she starts her Long March to the presidency soon!

He can if he’s making stuff up to gain listeners. Palin’s spokesperson says otherwise.

It may not be listed on the Reagan Library website because it is a PRIVATE function...

That would make sense.

And this from FR from early July:

Governor Sarah Palin to be speaker at Simi Valley Republican Women Celebration

The Simi Valley Club is having a 50th Anniversary Gala. Here is the data:
Guest Speaker GOVERNOR SARA PALIN

When:
Saturday, August 8, 2009:
5:30 p.m. Cocktail Reception and Tours 6:30 p.m. Dinner
Where:
Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum
40 Presidential Drive
Simi Valley, CA
COCKTAIL ATTIRE - NO CHILDREN UNDER 12
$150 PER PERSON UNLESS YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THEIR CLUB
REPLY BY JULY 20, 2009 WITH PAYMENT MAKE CHECK PAYABLE TO SVRWF RESERVATIONS NON-REFUNDABLE

As stated in the Palin press release, the event is sponsored by the Simi Valley Republican Women and they are holding it at the Reagan Library. The Library is not a sponsor and I guess their website does not list non-Reagan Library functions, which makes sense.

CD, Sarah never released info like that.
I saw some days ago Meg’s comments and Simi kept
going along like Meg never made the comments.

Simi used her name without acting on the reality of Sarah’s spokesperson’s comments.

An authentic conservative with the gonads/ovaries to go toe to toe with the liberals and make them back down. So far none of the Republicans putting their name out there fit that description and that includes Palin. WE CAN AND MUST DO BETTER!

Then they got it wrong. Sorry, but I trust Palin’s official spokesperson over anything else, including the SVWRC and Ziegler.

I read it here, go find it yourself. I’m sure not going to do it for you or anyone else!

I don't recall addressing my post to you.

Palin is the only one who has gone toe to toe and in the trenches against the Liberals. If she isn’t a conservative, no one is.

I worked for Reagan when he ran for Gov. and
Sarah Palin is the closest person today like him.

Only she can draw the crowds and energizes them. the
others mentioned look and speak like funeral directors

May 04, 2009
Rush Limbaugh defended Palin and heralded her as the “most prominent and articulate voice” for conservatism

Ah, the real story is Sarah never planned on attending the event, as was confirmed by her spokesperson...
That's a little strong, Rin.

The way that I understand the words of Meg's statement were that Governor Palin never CONFIRMED that she would be there.

You may not realize it, but the many local "Republican Women Federated" groups in California are the HEART of the conservative movement (such as it is) here in California.

And, they do some truly AMAZING work out here getting Republicans registered, getting out the vote, and otherwise energizing the conservative base out here to oppose the hard-core leftist agenda of California legislature -- and now also the leftist agenda of our "girly man" Governator, and more recently, of our Marxist president.
So, I cannot imagine that they would promote an event billed as "An Evening with Sarah Palin" without SOME kind of encouragement from Governor Palin's staff -- at least INITIALLY, when this event was first planned, last February.
I will concede that the RWF groups are almost all VOULUNTEERS -- and as such not seasoned professionals.

And, I can understand that in their zeal to promote what would understandably be an EXTRAORDIANRY forum for Sarah Palin, making one of her first public appearances since resigning as Governor of Alsaka debut in the home of the Gipper, they would have downplayed any gentle discouragement from the Palin camp, that she probably wouldn't be able to make it -- hoping that she would be there anyway.

But I DO NOT believe that they ever got the much-needed "tough love" announcement that Governor Palin would absolutley NOT be there -- until the press release one week before the event.

And, for THAT failing, I fault the Palin staff. Maybe they were just trying to be nice, and not hurt the feelings of this small local group of supporters. But they HAD to have seen all the MASSIVE national coverage of this impending appearance.

While I understand that they cannot deny EVERY ONE of the many "scheduled appearances of Sarah Palin" announced, they really needed to get out there in front of THIS one -- much sooner.

So, I see this as more of an unfortunate MISUNDERSTANDING than as a "rumor" -- or worse.

And I truly believe that SVRWF acted in good faith (if misguided) -- rather than from malice.

Now that I know the date I found at least one story posted on FR:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2304848/postsAnd some of the comments are very telling:

See, I knew it, people put her names on events that she has not even committed to attending. This is exactly what the media wanted, to say “See, she flaked out of another event” when in reality she NEVER said she was attending.
Sarah Barracuda

Still, her PR people have got to get a better grip on this—whether it’s not leaving ‘maybe’ acceptances hanging or setting the record straight more quickly. I’m not sure what’s at the root of the problem.

Reagan was never a quitter, reason enough.

Reagan was never being sued toward bankruptcy by leftist thugs. Nor were his children called whores and retards.

Palin is not a quitter. She did what was best for her family.

To be clear, Palin helped design the ethics laws that she now criticizes as being abused. Her other reason for quitting was a self declared lame duck status 18 months before the end of her term.

You are correct. Teddy did not want the VP nomination with McKinley. He was fighting corruption as Gov. of NY. (sound familiar?)He could also field dress a moose and was a crack shot like Sarah...........

The big shots in NY Rep. party wanted Teddy gone. So, they forced him, to take the Rep. nomination with McKinley.

In a smoke filled room, the big shots all felt good about themselves. All of a sudden, one of them stands up and says, “Do you know that cowboy is one breath away from the Presidency?”

Unfortunately, McKinley was assassinated, and Teddy became one of our greatest Presidents.......

By the way, there is a new book out about Teddy. It is called “Wilderness Warrior”.......I haven't read the book yet, but it is on my night stand...........
