Amen. How can people not realise, with all the historical evidence, that any form of socialism is wicked and evil in its core? And is merely the scenic route to tyranny?

From Hayek - the abuses and evil that was perpetrated in the name of socialism in past incarnations thereof, ironically, are the main reason people don’t think it will happen here. They see themselves and their leadership as so “different” from those that perpetrated the evil in the other instances of socialism, that they can’t fathom that this is the inevitable result.
From Sowell - The “best and brightest” young minds of today have more information and knowledge (and therefore wisdom and morality) than those that attempted collectivist systems in the past, so they will not fall prey to the pitfalls of the socialist systems of the past.
