AARP Working with Democrats to Discourage Obamacare Debate
AARP/Washington Examiner/The Lid ^ | 8/6/09 | The Lid

Posted on 08/06/2009 7:14:37 AM PDT by Shellybenoit

The House Democrat leadership on Friday sent a memo to their membership asking them to hold town hall meetings on health care in their districts in August. Showing just how out of touch Democrat leaders are with not only their membership but their constituents, those Democrats holding town halls with Democrat talkers on health care are getting booed off of the stage.

The memo reveals the groups that will be working hard to push the Obamacare bill down the throats of the American People:

The Leadership is working in close coordination with the White House and outside groups (including but not limited to HCAN, Families USA, AFSCME, SEIU, AARP, etc.) to ensure complementary efforts during August. The President, Secretary Sebelius and other principals in the reform debate will be working throughout the month to hold events, promote the message in the press and move the reform effort forward.

The AARP supports the bill despite the fact that it runs contrary to the opinions as well as the long term health of many of its members. Check out these representative comments on the AARP site:

...One senator (unidentified)said he would not have his dog on that plan!! All understood the ramifications of government deciding on health-care for the elderly!.. What about the people that do not have family to fight for them when they are so ill they cannot think>> the government person would just let them die?

How dare you say you speak for us without hearing from us about the particulars of a bill of goods no one has read or knows specifically about..

...What is going on? Is the AARP trying to pull the wool over its member's eyes? Well Maybe:

I called AARP a few days ago and told the staffer to give my message to the head of AARP who is supporting DeathCare. My message was that this person could shove our membership up their rear. I then asked for a refund that is being sent to me.

I’m reading the bill, checking to make sure the points that have been sent around are accurate (yes they are) but it only takes you to about page 400.

_________________________________QUOTING the HR 3200 HC bill.

On page 619 is the heading CONSIDERATIONS IN SETTING NATIONAL PRIORITIES.

With respect to such priorities, the SECRETARY (that is all thru the bill meaning Sec. of Health and Services) shall ensure that priority is given to areas in the delivery of health care services in the United States that-

PAGE 620
“(1) contribute to a large burden of disease, including those that address the health care provided to patients with prevalent, high-cost chronic diseases;
( I think this is the AIDS solution)

“(2) have the greatest potential to decrease morbidity and mortality in this country, including those that are designed to eliminate harm to patients;

“(3) have the greatest potential for improving the performance, affordability , and patient-centeredness of health care, including those due to variations in care;

“(4) address health disparities across groups and areas;

“ (5) have the potential for rapid improvement due to existing evidence, standards of care or other reasons.

Then it goes on to talk about Consensus-based entities.
______________________

What is the priorty going to be?

If the news gets out that the AIDS patients will get rationed out, and that the gay & lesbian crowd are a part of the final solution and get to go first, this will kill the bill ASAP.

I heard a caller to a talk show from last night that stated, AARP is telling complainers that they (the AARP) are reporting their calls to the White House.

Very astute. "Assure that priority is given..." does not enlighten us as to what kind of priority. Weasel words abound here. It's despicable.

“AARP can kiss my lily white...”

My folks are dropping AARP. I wonder how many folks they wind up losing? I got the impression from my Dad that while the discounts they got were good, he felt they had gotten off track some time back. I think their stand on Obamacare was just the last straw.-—JM

That is a bad thing? They (AARP) need to keep it up so we can get it on tape.

Courtney, in Connecticut's 2nd district, is holding a town hall meeting limited to selected AARP members. Anyone in the eastern part of the state needs to email him. I did so this morning. Those outside the district can write or call (contact info here) The district runs from the MA border to the coast and roughly cuts the state in half--almost the size of the other 3 districts combined. The 2nd is rural and semi-rural. GOP has a chance here in 2010.

Kathy Castor..Socialist Tampa..Has cancelled her regular meeting and is attending a Black Community activist meeting in YBOR city where her white constituants are afraid to go. She will be protected from the citizens by Acorn activists. The start of Obamas civilian Brown Shirts. I plan on attending with camera in hand.

Thanks for the ping. My in-laws and her friends are all dropping their AARP memberships. Some of their friends actually voted for BO, and they are already getting scared about the “end of life” counseling bit.

My advise to you is to have a small tape recorder in your pocket in addition to the camera. They may not let you in with the camera.

AARP is unwittingly recording the data that is needed to show these protests are a ‘real’ grassroots protest rather than a manufactured ‘astroturf’ protest as the Dems seems so willing to use.

Good idea. Should be interesting. It is not a town hall and questions from citizens will not be allowed.
