Unfortunately this isn't new. I discovered it while reading up on getting a passport almost 2 years ago. It doesn't make it anymore right though.

In practical terms how would the person doing the searching know if something is legitimately owned or not? I mean if I have a Beatles song on my laptop how do they know if I bought it from itunes or pirated it from Limewire?
