Here is a video report on a Southwest Airlines Flight from Arizona to Indiana where a man was stung by a scorpion that fell down out of an overhead luggage compartment. The man described the sting as being "like 40-50 bees at the same time in one place." . . . . . (Watch Video)

Sometimes, it’s just not your day.
They’d have to throw me in cargo if they don’t have epinephrine on board, because I don’t know if I’m allergic to stings. If I’m allergic to bee stings and a scorpion stings me, I’m as good as dead at 35,000.
Heard this guy today....He had been stung just previously. Wonder if he was trying to sneak some back with him from his “vacation”....Just being suspicious....
Oh, man I hate those things. We have those “sticky pads” in the house and have trapped quite a few with them. (shudder)
If I’m at the controls of a 737, and a scorpion drops and runs across the instrumentation, I know I’m running and screaming like a little girl back to the tail.
I don’t know why they’re the only thing on the planet I’m still terrified of, after 40 years of constant exposure.
Arizona ones must be a lot more dangerous and plentiful than the ones we get in Dallas.
What a baby.
That ought to be worth a round trip ticket or two.
Hahahaaa thats great. I get a good visual of the cockpit door flung open, and the pilot tearing past the passengers,,,
While stationed in Hawaii I had one crawl up my pant leg. He hit me on the backside of my knee and I thought I was going to die. If anybody has any modesty this is the cure. When he hit me the second time I made a world record for speed stripping. The little sucker was only about an inch and a half long. At least with the scorpion you know you’ve been stung. While in Hawaii, I also got hit by a centipede. Not the little thing you find in your basement, but the big ones you see on Wild Kingdom. 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide and 10+ inches long. Didn’t know they like cool places. It was hiding under a trash can which I went to empty. It hit me on the index finger but I never knew it. I guess from what the doc said it is a neurotoxin. You don’t feel the bite, meanwhile the venom is working its way through your system. 10 min. later I passed out while sitting at my workbench. Woke up 30 min later in emergency.
I thought the oppisite, with the Airlines charging extra fees for everything I was thinking they would charge him a fee for the experiance.
And the airline did what they do best, blame the person who got stung.
The scorpions shown in the video are the nasty ones; I hope that wasn’t what got him. Most scorpions are the larger, less potent ones.
Like as though the airlines raise them in their baggage compartments? A passenger had to be smuggling it.
Coming soon to a theater near you.
Here's a tip that an Australian gave me. If stung by a scorpion, disable it, smash his head and rub the contents into the sting. The scorpions head has the antivenom in it. I've never had to try it, but it might save your life.
Another article I read said it was an Arizona Bark Scorpion that stung him. From what I’ve read, it’s one of the more venomous varieties in the U.S., though I’m no expert on the little beasties.
Here in Texas, when I was a kid ,some of the old timers called them “stinging lizards” Ugly SOB’s they give me the creeps
