The House Energy and Commerce Committee cancelled a scheduled "mark up" today.

A key House committee on Tuesday indefinitely postponed voting on health care reform legislation, after Democratic leaders were unable to line up enough votes from moderate members of their own party.

Watch out. Probably an end run like the Senate did on passing the TARP bill.

“Indefinitely” also means it can be resurrected “immediately”.

Be watchful, FRiends.

URGENT: House Panel Cancels Tuesday Healthcare Meeting; Will be lobbied by Obama at White House...

Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce panel are headed to the White House, not their committee room, on Tuesday.

Instead of continuing their markup, Energy and Commerce Democrats will be lobbied by President Obama at the White House. Tuesday’s continuing markup was canceled, but the panel is scheduled to meet again on Wednesday.

The delays and intense effort by the White House cast more doubt on whether the House will meet its deadline of voting on the landmark bill before the August recess.

Conservative Democrats on the panel have criticized the healthcare reform bill’s costs, and complained it does not do enough to reduce long-term healthcare spending. Freshman Democrats have also been worried about growing fiscal deficits and the risk the healthcare bill could add to them, while members from wealthy districts are upset about a surcharge on the wealthy that would be used to pay for some of the bill’s costs.

The White House meeting is scheduled at 12:45 on Tuesday.

Obama is continuing his press on healthcare reform with comments in the Rose Garden scheduled for the noon hour. Obama is also scheduled to meet at the White House with several Democratic chairmen in the House and Senate.

I have to disagree. I have seen plenty of Blue Dogs on tv and all are vocally against the bill. So, they don’t have the votes. Now, if the bill were transformed suddenly, then maybe, but I doubt that will happen overnight.

Senior Democrat says no consensus on health bill...

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says House Democrats are struggling to reach consensus on overhauling health care, a divide that could delay House approval of a plan beyond lawmakers’ scheduled vacation in August.

House leaders have said they wanted to pass a plan before they leave on a monthlong break. But Hoyer, D-Md., said Tuesday there is still disagreement on proposed tax increases on the wealthy, and whether to establish a government-run insurance program to compete with private plans.

Hoyer said House Democrats will continue to negotiate in private, with the goal of passing a plan next week. He downplayed the idea of keeping lawmakers in session while negotiations continue, but wouldn’t rule it out.

OBAMA ADMITS: ‘NOT FAMILIAR’ WITH HOUSE BILL...

With the public’s trust in his handling of health care tanking (50%-44% of Americans disapprove), the White House has launched a new phase of its strategy designed to pass Obamacare: all Obama, all the time. As part of that effort, Obama hosted a conference call with leftist bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible.

During the call, a blogger from Maine said he kept running into an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance. He asked: “Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?” President Obama replied: “You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about.” (quote begins at 17:10)

This is a truly disturbing admission by the President, especially considering that later in the call, Obama promises yet again: “If you have health insurance, and you like it, and you have a doctor that you like, then you can keep it. Period.” How can Obama keep making this promise if he is not familiar with the health legislation that is being written in Congress? Details matter.
We are familiar with the passage IBD sites, and as we wrote last week, the House bill does not outright outlaw private individual health insurance, but it does effectively regulate it out of existence. The House bill does allow private insurance to be sold, but only “Exchange-participating health benefits plans.” In order to qualify as an “Exchange-participating health benefits plan,” all health insurance plans must conform to a slew of new regulations, including community rating and guaranteed issue. These will all send the cost of private individual health insurance skyrocketing. Furthermore, all these new regulations would not apply just to individual insurance plans, but to all insurance plans. So the House bill will also drive up the cost of your existing employer coverage as well. Until, of course, it becomes so expensive that your company makes the perfectly economical decision to dump you into the government plan.

President Obama may not care to study how many people will lose their current health insurance if his plan becomes law, but like most Americans, we do. That is why we partnered with the Lewin Group to study how many Americans would be forced into the government “option” under the House health plan. Here is what we found:

Even the most rabid leftist can recognize communism when they see it and they also know what happens to useful idiots when it is installed. They are the first to ‘disappear’.

Just ask Hillary as she is ‘disappearing’ from the public view.

This is only one committee working on the bill. There about 20 others.

And the wavering Democrats are at a "meeting" with Obama this morning. After Rahm gets a shot at them we'll see how they feel.

It will be back as soon as they can twist enough arms. We do not need to let our guard down and keep calling your Reps.
