Romney 2102? Two Words: Romney Care
The Provocateur ^ | 07/20/2009 | Mike Volpe

The last few days conservatives have begun to demonize the health care system in Massachusetts. That's because, in the view of many conservatives, Massachusetts' health care system is congruent to the health care system that President Obama is attempting to construct. That's simplified. Here's how it's similar. It requires every citizen to have health insurance. It requires all employers, but the smallest, to provide health insurance to their employees. Finally, those that don't make enough money have their insurance subsidized. Here's how it's different. It has no public option.

I hope you’re not one of those Romney-bots or a Romney supporter...

One might want to listen to Jim Robinson.

I like to post this as much as possible for any Romney-bots who happen to be reading... LOL...

Unlike Romney’s “National Council for a New America,” Free Republic is a conservative site!

by Jim Robinson

If there is anyone here who doesn’t understand why we cannot support a slick socialist politician like Mitt Romney, God help you, but you’re on the wrong website. We went through this with the abortionist, gay rights activist, illegal alien supporting, gun grabbing Rudy Giuliani until someone created another website call WAnkers for Rudy and they all flew the coop. Hopefully, before too much FReeper blood is shed, someone will create a WAnkers for Romney site and we can be left to fight the good fight as we see fit!

FR is not for everyone!

Any other questions, Romney-bots?... :-)

“Any RINO is better than 0bama.”

Precisely. However, you’ll have a tough time trying to convey that most sensible message here.

You said — Frankly, Romney is not a very attractive candidate anyway.

Ummmm..., more than that... see post #21...

So what is the conservative solution?

Show me where in the constitution its says "The federal government shall provide health care".

No, I thought I was being pretty clear that Sarah would be in charge. I’d like to hear more ideas for a solid running mate or Sarah (assuming she runs) who is economically credible. That leaves out Huckabee. I have to chuckle at your Romney-bot suggestion...does he really have blindly devoted followers? There’s no way I would want him for pres.

In closing: if you are 100% for Sarah in 2012 then we have very little to disagree upon.

Nope. I'm tired of ‘slick’. Huckabee should have stayed in Arkansas and in the pulpit. I want an unabashed conservative. Someone who will speak passionately with good reasoning about our founding principals. Someone who runs against the stagnant Republican grain. And who wears lipstick well (sorry Rudy).

I now want health coverage that will only offer major medical. For everything else, I’ll pay myself. $120-$150 for a 1 time/year visit with an ob/gyn? No problem. $500 for blood work? OK. $220 for an appt. w/an endocrinologist? Fine. An MRI, an X-ray, a CT Scan, all those other things included, what would it come to - $5,000/year? Like the L’Oreal women say, “I’m worth it.”

Women typically spend about $20/week on their hair without including shampoo, conditioner, styling products. Add in $10/week on other things (manicures, pedicures, waxing, threading, teeth whitening, cosmetics, etc.) and $5 for coffee. These are minimums. To me, these are absurdities. I would have no problem paying these sums, I despise spending the time associated with them doing these stupidities. 3-4 hours every 6 weeks at the hair salon for $120 worth of highlights? No, thanks. But if you offered these same women a gym membership at $35/month, I doubt those of the Dumb persuasion would take it. $100/month for major medical coverage? I bet there would be few takers.

I like the monthly membership fee. Or, give me a program that puts me in a group with people of my age, gender, wt./ht. ratio bracket. Don’t use me to cover the morbidly obese, the high risk pregnancy types, etc.. Better yet, let me pay for myself, you pay for yourself.

Romney does not even have the capability to work animal control.

"But the details of the event are more than unseemly — they may, in fact, be illegal.
Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone
from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel
or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the
animal carried thereon.
" An officer for the Massachusetts Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation
saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." The officer,
Nadia Branca, declined to give a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law
but did note that it's against state law to have a dog in an open bed of a pick-up truck,
and "if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it, that would be illegal."

"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch?
Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip
"Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter,
in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack.
e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog," read the article.
Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics, a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover, said Romney's actions were uncalled for.
....What Happens to a Dog on a Roof Traveling 50 MPH?"

"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney probably could do without, but he is surely
the first presidential candidate to be attacked for putting a dog with diarrhea
in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon.
Romney's defense: Seamus liked it. "He scrambled up there every time we went on trips,"
the Republican said during a campaign stop in Pittsburgh. "He got in all by himself and enjoyed it."

"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon,
keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble.
''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window,
payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.
As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust,
Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car,
then hopped back onto the highway."

"Story about dog on car roof comes back to bite Romney
Critics, jokesters make issue of tale
TIME.com's Swampland blog has been flooded with more than 200 comments
from readers complaining of animal cruelty"

Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus

"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse?
Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron.
But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea,
which ran down the back window of the car. Romney's sons, all under 13, howled in disgust.
Romney pulled off the road into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, and they drove on to Ontario.
.....David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog.
"It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently,
in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever
for the suffering that the solution may cause."

I concur. He has the business and image bona fides to support the ticket. The thing about Palin is that she is the first and last word in charisma. She is so dynamic, has so much star power, that whoever she picks is going to seem like a pallid spectre in comparison. Put any conservative by her side - Mike Pence, Bobby Jindal, Eric Cantor - who could possibly look good next to her? They all now look like schlubs, and I do like them all. So, while I may have disagreements with and doubts about Romney, I would totally support him bringing up the rear on that ticket.

And any trained monkey could have done better than Mitt Brutus Romney, who got a "C" rating from CATO.
And that was BEFORE
Romney's Socialized medicine and coverup of the BIGdig kicked in. .
Note that the record also shows that Shapeshifter Romney also betrayed President Bush as Governor
(predicting what TeamROMNEY would do later in Election2008 to Gov. Palin, and every other GOP candidate).
Romney was against the conservative tax cuts.

Here are the facts from CATO.

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

It would also be a “peacemaking” gesture seeing as both Sarah and Romney have (at this early stage) the bulk of supporters between them. I just don’t see a huge downside to him being Veep. In the 2008 primaries I often thought “his positions have moved a lot but he IS very credible on the economy and he comes across as a winner”.

Before I get flamed: Palin 2012!

ROMNEY - for when the GOP REALLY, REALLY WANTS TO LOSE

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.

The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”
- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”

[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."
- Boston Globe, 11/8/2006
