Sarah Palin's rambling abdication speech was hard to follow, let alone acclaim, but in her abrupt announcement that she is withdrawing from public office, the Republican governor of Alaska was hardly the only player in a 10-month drama who demonstrated a lack of self-awareness. Democrats scoffed at her "politics of personal destruction" line, but it's a maxim they originally popularized, and one they will undoubtedly trot out again the next time it happens to one of their own. But the true villains in this political morality play may have been the press.

this is one of the best pieces I have read in a very long time. What does everyone else think?
Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disaster and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

She is far smarter and certainly more of a REAL American than any leftist liberal in Washington. No matter what she chooses to do, she has my support as the true patriot that she is.
“Rambling speech” ? Talked pretty normal to me, Its Obama that Rambles without ever saying anything you can hang your Hat on.
At least you can hang your hat on Sarah’s Moose antlers in her living room.
Just hang on all y’alls, Sarah is going to re-appear soon and shock the detractors but good.
“Sarah Palin initiated a brilliant flanking manuever against the left...”
Agree. The last thing that the Dems wanted was for her to resign. Deroy Murdoch (sp.), the liberal commentator made that more than clear when he very calmly kept repeating (even though he was egged on) that it was a “mistake” for Sarah to resign. In other words, he was practically begging her to change her mind.
They are scared to death of her now. I can just imagine the phone calls that the Alaska Dems are receiving from DC:
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS, WE SAID HARASS HER, NOT DRIVE HER FROM OFFICE”
Let’s hope the DC Dems learn a lesson here, don’t rely on your second string (i.e., Alaska Dems) to be able to go up and win against a major-leaguer. The DC Dems must be kicking themselves. They know that they should have monitored their kids (i.e., Alaska Dems) more closely, and made sure that they stuck to the plan...and only harassed her just enough to keep her mind tied up in Alaska politics.
Now they have unleashed a MONSTER (as they see it)...and they already know it will cost them dearly.
When you poke a pit-bull enough times it’s gonna bite you in the *ss. Guess her enemies are slow learners.
Amen to every last bit of that!
Your chosen profession has been sliding downward since Reagan. Probably before then, but I wasn't paying much attention prior. All I know is that all y'all took down Nixon and then quit being journalists to become propagandists.
I guess the "We took down Nixon" laurels were more than enough to rest on for a few decades and more than enough for both you and your average citizen allies to quit questioning your objectivity, your professionalism and your ability to be honest.
Here's your challenge: can you ever become honest, professional journalists? Or, as I suspect, you are so in the pockets of the demonrat party and their corporate and globalists handlers that you will never be more than their voice of propaganda and attack. You don't know how to be anything else so, bite me. You deserve to fail. Too bad you can't (as in, you are unable to) prove me wrong.
First, you do know I didn’t write the piece right?
Seoond, you appear to be the only that has commented that actually read the piece, so what did you think of it. I think it was fantastic.
Their chosen profession was never worth a bucket of warm . . . spit . . . to borrow a phrase from a veteran politician. Check out the scandal mongers from the days of John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, J Q Adams, Andrew Jackson . . . even the likes of Washington, Lincoln, and Cleveland. They've never been worth any more than John Nance Garner's bucket of warm . . . spit.
Thanks for the post. That was a long read. This was a pretty good summary of the events leading up to the post election and fairly even handed (for the media). This is a good reference piece to keep in mind in regards to the complicity of the media in the destruction of the country. True “journalism” would have shredded the obama/biden ticket. The only reason they are in power was a coup enabled by the occupation media.
I used that quote to vent some of my acquired hostility for the press/media. I do agree that this was a very good bit of opinion writing, long, due the many examples he uses to make his points, but worth the time to read. He gets it and I tend to agree that the media is responsible for creating Rush Limbaugh. Rush fills the void the media created.
My problem with it is that it only makes me more mad than I was before I read it. Not good.
The media made it possible for Rush to have an opportunity to become such a success, but Rush Limbaugh and those who work for him are the ones who are responsible for the success of Limbaugh and EIB.
And, the media still refuses to be honest journalists, thus opening the door even further for many other conservatives to make themselves successful since Limbaugh blazed the trail. At least they are good for something.
“When you poke a pit-bull enough times its gonna bite you in the *ss. Guess her enemies are slow learners.”
Well stated.
