With the release of a letter written by Obama that "clarifies" where he was born... comes more confusion than ever. Now we have THREE different reported places of birth from sources within the Obama family. I wonder why there's so much confusion about this?

Maybe. Under Jus Sanguinus, yes. Under Jus Soli, no.
I think the Founding Fathers intended that for this one office, there could be no hint of any possible divided loyalties or sympathies.
I think they intended that a President must be both born on US soil, and of citizen parents.
Only the Supreme Court has the authority to make the final determination, since no law has defined 'Natural Born Citizen' since 1790, and that law was replaced in 1795 by a law that stands mute on the issue.
Darks can show you the light, but he can’t make you see.
Is the child of two aliens or non citizens or even a child born of one citizen parent born in the United States a natural born citizen?
I say no, and so did the First Congress of the United States when it described what a Natural born citizen was.
A child of two US citizens is a natural born US citizen.
Obama is not a natural born citizen and can never become one.
Swordfish?
No idea. Never saw the movie.
Bingo!
Look how far we, as a nation, have fallen. Personally, I do not think anyone who spent their formative years overseas, and attends a church whose minister says “God Damn America” should be eligible for any elected office, except maybe “dog catcher”, and that goes for Ahhnald, too.
Also, even though I am a woman, have my doubts about giving us the vote. Also believe that anyone on the taxpayer’s dole should be ineligible to vote. I see that as a conflict of interest in that they are voting for their own benefits, which they are not paying for.
I dont know, null and void. Things seem to change according to how one wants them to be and the law be damned.
All I can tell you is about my own personal experience in this matter which was/is as follows:
Although the Canal Zone belonged to the United States (every square inch bought and paid for by the U.S. taxpayers...we the people), everyone knew from the beginning whoever was born in the Canal Zone could never become president because of where we were born. This did not matter if ones parents were U.S. citizens. In fact, I remember there was one mother who would travel to the states to give birth. If one of her children ever wanted to run for president, there would be no problem.
I know I am repeating myself again and again McCain not only was not born in the Canal Zone (had he been, that alone would have disqualified him to run for president right there then), he was born in a foreign country, Colon, Republic of Panama.
Good to hear from you.
P.S.
I know I did not answer your question, but that is the best I can do...from personal experience.
You did fine.
Thank you, null and void.
I love talking with you.
It would be disastrously impractical and ridiculous if it did. All it would take is for some nut like Castro or Kim Jong to declare that all infants born in the United States are granted citizenship in their respective countries, and then they get to control who's eligible for our elections decades afterward.
Actually he did not. At least not for general release. A "short form" was released by a party to a lawsuit challenging his elibigibilty. It was most likely a forgery, just looking at internal inconsistencies of typeface and such. Another, not even fully filled in, "long form" was also released, but not by McCain. It too appears to be a poor attempt at a forgery.
McCain supposedly showed his to a reporter, who reported that he was born On the Naval Base, and was deliverd by a Navy doctor. That tends to agree with what his mother has said about the event. But he did not release the BC to the media.
Interestingly we have several "BC's" for Obama and McCain. All appear to be fake. The ones for McCain would tend to say he might not be eligible, being born in Pananma, not on a US military base in the Canal Zone over which the US exercised sovereignty at the time. But the ones for Obama say he was born in Honolulu, and thus, his father being a foreign national aside, would be eligible. Now forgeries are presumably made because the real documents don't tell the "proper story". Both sets of forgeries favor Obama and disfavor McCain. Thus one is lead to the conclusion that the forgers favored Obama, and that the true documents woudl tell the opposite story, ie. McCain born on a US base in a territory then controlled by the US, and thus *probably* eligible. Obama not born in Honolulu, and thus ineligible (since that would not even have in as "citizen at birth, a necessary but not sufficient condition to be natural born).
I believe I originally read that it was a doctored copy of Maya’s on the Texas Darlin website, which I can’t get to come up now. It is referenced here though.
http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/13040.htm
“According to Texas Darlin, which exclusively published these latest revelations, there is more to come: “In the coming days, Techdude will provide a final report that fully discloses his discovery, and provides all the fancy technical data, images, formulae etc. that everyone has come to expect. He will respond to questions posted on this blog to the best of his ability. (NOTE: KG has asked Techdude to donate the trip funds to help retire Hillary’s debt, and Techdude has agreed.)” In the meantime, KG has posted details on how artifacts of the name “Maya Kassandra Soetero” were discerned.
The revelation that the COLB of Obama’s own sister was evidently used to create the electronic forgery represents what supporters of this analysis claim is a “smoking gun” that appears to implicate Senator Obama directly. Hawaii law limits access to vital records to family members only, a fact which slowed down the ability of researchers to compare the purported Obama “birth certificate” — which displayed from the start a peculiar provenance and inexplicable features — to genuine specimens. Therefore, it would seem that either Maya K. Soetoro-Ng (as she is now called) supplied the document or its image to half-brother Barack or his campaign, or Obama/his campaign used it without her permission.”
Later, it brings up the fact that Maya was born in Indonesia, and the fact that a foreign born baby managed to get a Hawaiin COLB.
I would say that a foreign dictator cannot determine that infants born in this country are citizens of his country unless those children were brought there to live as adopted citizens in that country, as is the case with Obama and Indonesia.
Borders are powerful things, they even define the extent of our (and their) laws.
Perfectly legal under Hawaiian law.
But a citizen at birth is not the same as a "natural born citizen". If Obama was born in the US, or if his parents weren't really married regardless of where he was born, then he was a citizen at birth too. (His mother's age would not matter if he was a bastard, since the law provided that the children of unwed US Citizen mothers became citizens at birth.
True, but FWIW, that 1790 law, written by many of the same people as the Constitution itself, stated:
"the children of citizens of the United States, that may be born beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens: Provided, That the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States."
The problem is that no ordinary law can define a Constitutional term. It means what it meant when that part of the Constitution was written and ratified. However the 1790 law does give an indication about what thoe people of the founding period thought, only 3 years after the Constitution was signed, and only a year after the government began operations under the new Constitution. (It was passed by the 1st Congress, and presumably signed by George Washington).
John McCain was born to parents who were American citizens on an American military base in the Canal Zone. The zone was considered US territory before that idiot carter gave it back to Panama. That's as Natural Born as you can get.

GtG
