Greenpeace Desecrates Mt. Rushmore To Fight Global Warming
The Constitutional Alamo ^ | 07/08/09 | Michael Naragon

On the web page as well as the banner covering a large portion of Mt. Rushmore, Greenpeace blathers on about honoring America’s leaders, not politicians.

In principle, I agree with their assessment. Barack Obama is no leader. He is an ideologue, wholly committed to special interest groups, like Greenpeace, instead of the principles upon which this nation was founded. He cannot speak without prompts, cannot make decisions without polls, cannot lead without consensus. He is no Lincoln, Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, or Washington. Not even close.

To point out this fact, Greenpeace took it upon themselves to attach a giant photo of Obama to one of the most hallowed places in the United States. To exhort their Messiah to fix a climate problem which doesn’t exist, they have desecrated the epitomes of true American leadership.

George Washington was the founder of the greatest nation in the history of the world who voluntarily gave up power to maintain the free Republic of the United States. Thomas Jefferson helped pen the words of the Declaration and was a staunch advocate for the rights of man. Abraham Lincoln was as gifted a leader as the nation has known, despite his humble beginnings, as he reforged a nation with compassion. Theodore Roosevelt was a leader in every sense, who never asked others to do what he himself had not done or would not attempt.

There may be a day when the sheer lunacy of the Left robs me of the words with which to comment on their intellectual profanity. Fortunately, today is not that day.

I’m with you there, friend. If I had written what I had REALLY wanted to write, it wouldn’t have been very kid-friendly. It actually took me a couple of minutes to process this completely... it’s stunning, even for the enviroNazis...

How in the hell were they able to get up there with such a large banner and then do what they did? Where were the park rangers or were they willing conspirators? Is this some more of the change we can believe in?

????????????????????????????
gaining access to the top of the monument is relatively easy from the back.
there is a staircase that goes up the backside of George’s head.

So much for security at our national landmarks. If Greenpeace could unfurl a banner on Mt. Rushmore without being caught, they could just as well have permanently vandalized the monument.

The first line of their poster was ok. And the message that obama is just a politian was ok. So they got 2 out of 3.

You’re right... I’m actually ok with the message that Obama isn’t a leader. I just don’t agree that pushing global warming legislation is the way to become one, nor could I ever condone placing a banner on Rushmore... as one of the comments on my blog described it: monstrous.

So did they actually place this banner on Mt. Rushmore or did they simply doctor a video that had been previously shot?

No, it’s actually there, and, as of 3:00EST or so, it was STILL there, as the park staff was having difficulty removing it due to wind. It is no Photoshop stunt.

I wonder how much damage they caused in securing their ropes?
