July 2008: The Islamic Saudi Academy: A ‘Hot Potato’

~ Ahmed Omar Abu ALi was the class Valedictorian in 1999. He was indicted (2005) and has since been convicted and is now serving a 30 year prison sentence for:

* Conspiracy to Assassinate President George W. Bush * Conspiracy to hijack a US Aircraft * Conspiracy to destroy US Aircraft

~ Abdalla I Al-Shabran. Director of Academy. Arrested in 2008. Charged with failing to report child abuse. Allegations and obstruction of justice. He received a "slap on the wrist" for covering up the abuse of a little girl. He was given a small fine and charges dropped.

~ Mohammed Osam Idris and Mohammed el Yacoubi. Forner students. Charged with lying to a federal Grand Jury investigating terrorism. Denied entry to Israel in 2001 when it was discovered they wrote suicide/farewell letters and said it was for "suicide mission in the name of jihad..."

~ Raed Abdul-Rahman Alsaif. 2003 Graduate. June 30, 2009 was apprehended at Tampa airport for trying to carry a concealed weapon (butcher knife) onto the plane. The knife was covered as to be able to for him to have easy access to it while on the plane and he lied to authorities. Charges pending.

The ISA is a creation of the Saudi Embassy. In a report of the US Commission on International religious Freedom (USCIRF) issued on the ISA in October, 2007, it noted:

o It is the only school in the United States that is operated with the direct authority of the Saudi embassy. Twenty such academies are operated by the government of Saudi Arabia in foreign capital cities around the world. o It operates on two northern Virginia properties owned or leased by the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, with the leased property being leased by “the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia d/b/a (doing business as) the Islamic Saudi Academy.” o The Saudi ambassador to the United States is the chairman of the school’s board of directors, which, according to the Academy’s web site, “oversees the educational and administrative operation” and “provides direction and guidance to every aspect of” the school’s operations. o The school is funded by the government of Saudi Arabia. o On numerous occasions, Saudi Embassy officials have spoken to the press on the ISA’s behalf-including in response to inquiries about its curriculum. o According to the Academy’s brochure, posted on its own web site, the ISA uses Saudi government “curriculum, syllabus, and materials.”

An investigation by the congressionally appointed U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom recommended that the school be closed due to the "Islamic supremacism and hatred of non-Muslims taught there".

Investigations found an eleventh-grade text used by the school contains a notorious Islamic tradition in which Muhammad says that a sign of the Day of Judgement will be Muslims killing Jews, who will hide behind stones and trees, and the stones and trees with cry out: "Oh Muslim, oh servent of God, here is a Jew hiding behind me. Come here and kill him."

Other texts declared that "the Jews conspired against Islam and its people," that Muslims could lawfully kill and seize the property of polytheists, and that adulterers and apostates from Islam should be put to death.

To make matters worse, Fairfax County Supervisor Gerald Hyland attributed this to misunderstandings of the Qur'an. "I would be less than frank, he told reporters, "if I didn't tell you that the curriculum does contain references to the Qur'an, if taken out of context and read literally, would cause some concern."

One would think Hyland would hesitate to claim that an Islamic school, staffed by people who know the Qur'an far better than he does, was misreading the Qur'an, but he fells compelled to jump into the PC lockstep, no matter how absurb it makes him look.

American officials were thus in the peculair position of pretending that the Islamic Saudi Academy was twisting the true teaching of Islam, and asking it to stop teaching what were actually traditional and deeply rooted Islamic tenets.

The Commission of International Religious Freedom also found that "some Saudi government funded textbooks used in North American Islamic schools have been found to encourage incitement to violence against non-Muslims."
