Sarah! Sarah! Sarah!
By Alan Caruba Monday, July 6, 2009
Sarah Palins stunning announcement on July 3rd that she would step down as Governor of Alaska at the end of the month left all the political pundits gazing into their crystal ball desperately looking for an explanation.
The most obvious answer was the one she offered. She had done as much as she thought she could do for Alaska and now she wanted some time with her family. We are conditioned to never believe what politicians tell us and, in most cases, that is the wisest thing, but Palin breaks the mold in many ways.

So why did she quit and what will she do now?

She probably also needs time away from the horrid attacks. I dont think most of us give much thought to the toll such savagery takes on a public figure. She surely has done nothing to deserve it other than to become a rising star among a fairly dull Republican roster of potential presidential candidates.
SNIP
And, finally, I keep thinking she would really like to take off the gloves and tear into Barack Hussein Obama. The Alaskan Governors office is not the right place to do that. Combine that will a quarter million in legal expenses to defend against spurious charges, and the reason for leaving early seems fairly obvious.
She needs a bigger platform and her new freedom gives her one.
The President becomes more vulnerable to serious criticism with every passing day and, so far, Republicans have been too quiet. Palin is likely to do politically to Obama what she has already done to a Moose.

Obama all but quit his Senate seat to run for president and his track record since being president has not displayed any increased leadership skills, so I think she could still take him.
I just hope she has not had to step down to deal with a health issue, either for herself or someone in her family.
One thing for sure, other than her, I don’t want to see any repub run who ran last year.
Of course if Condi had married Obama, and Michelle was a conservative Sec. of State in the Bush administration we would all think differently.
What Sarah did is inexcusable for a politician. She might as well have been caught in bed with a dead guy or a live girl.
Conservative ideologues (oxymorons btw) will try to rationalize Sarah's quitting as a good thing. But average gut-level conservatives will see her as the flash-in-the-pan that she is.
Oh and the Wisconsin accent might be charming for a few bit part characters in Fargo, but if she tries to go national with some type of talk show it is going to get real grating.
I am proud of her and support her. She is a great American.
The left, the MSM, and many RINOs hate her precisely because her very life and its achievements refute all of their entitlement and big government arguements...and let's not forget, many hate her as well because she and Todd chose life for their down's syndrome son, Trig. God bless them for that.
I think Sarah has just turned, like a fed-up mama Bear, on her detractors. She has put things in order, she has left them in the hands of capable people, and she has now turned to face her enemies directly.
...and I think they are going to be sorry. We have smelled the fear in them for a long time. Good on her!
Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disater and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012...and she has my full support.
GO SARAH GO!

Idiot!
Isn’t it great to see the Lib pundits making fools of themselves!
Amazing, do you also know who will win the World Series this Fall, I need to get a bet down!
Yes it is. Sarah has thrown them all into an absolute frenzy. They are so scared of her you can smell it on them. Good on her!
Palin is likely to do politically to Obama what she has already done to a Moose.
GO SARAH!!!!
What Sarah did is inexcusable for a politician.”

Given what passes for a politician I’d take that as a compliment.
You and me too...I'm tired of the "Democrat Lite" party masquerading as the GOP....
Well, then he gets to show off the scars for bragging rights?
“The President becomes more vulnerable to serious criticism with every passing day and, so far, Republicans have been too quiet. Palin is likely to do politically to Obama what she has already done to a Moose.”
Long, long overdue for someone in the GOP to have backbone and call these America hating leftists on their stuff. I don’t care who does it. I am just fed up with these assaults on America being done without any comeback by the people we have voted for, to represent us.
If Sarah does it, she will be the top of the GOP ticket in 2012.
What Sarah did is inexcusable for a politician.

Given what passes for a politician Id take that as a compliment.

THATS A BINGO!!!!
“Lot of adolescent-minded freepers think the same way, it turns out.”
I have been quite surprised that so many “freepers” have been so down on Sarah and her prospects. She so clearly represents true conservative values. I am behind her 100%!
That’s the main point. Last year, Palin was the only one who truly drew blood in regards to Obama. With her now being freed up (and potentially melding with the tea-party movement, or at least its fervor), she’s going to use her megaphone and do a hell of a lot of good for conservatism. Especially things like federalism, fiscal responsibility, and energy independence. Even people here who aren’t Palin partisans should grasp and appreciate this.
Too many people are framing this entirely in terms of 2012, and overlooking the more immediate positives. Yeah, with enough support, she might indeed work this into a presedential run... or not. (and I’d support her in a heartbeat, admittedly). But the pressing concern is to rally conservative opposition to Obama’s agenda. So far, the GOP itself has proven spineless and rather incapable of doing this, to date.
Inexcusable for the kind of politician you would vote for, but not me. I waited to see how the Iraq surge would work out, so I will wait for Sarah’s.
