And liars At the time of the Mexican-American war, there were only about 50,000 "Mexicans" in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, living under little better than feudal conditions. They did most certainly cross the border, by the millions, in order to escape their own poor, dysfunctional society, culture and government. They would all still be sacrificing each other on stone altars if it weren't for the Europeans, and their women would still be little more than pack animals. If we had not won the Mexican-American War, New Mexico, Arizona and California would look just like Chihuahua, Sonora and Baja. We did not "steal" the part of Mexico with all the jobs, good roads and schools!
