Nope not accurate......... President Bush was elected governor of Texas, served one term and was elected for a 2nd term. He ran for President and was elected in Nov. 2000 and resigned his governorship on Dec. 21, 2000 and sworn in as President on Jan. 20, 2001.

He didn’t leave his governorship of Texas after 2 1/2 years as Palin is doing in AK.

What's the difference?

Bush did not finish the second term as governor, as he was elected to do. He broke his apparently sacred bond to the people of Texas. The fact that he did one complete term is irrelevant. Each new election is a new pact, which Bush, like Obama, and Palin, did not see through to the end.

Now, I'm having some fun with this, but you see my point. She's not doing anything that other successful Presidents haven't.

I didn’t say he didn’t resign. My comment to the poster was that her statement was inaccurate which it was. President Bush, then governor, didn’t resign to run for President as she stated that Levin said. He ran for President while he was governor, was elected and then resigned a month before he was sworn in as President.

Obama didn’t finish HIS first term as senator — heck he seldom even showed up for work before he was officially running for POTUS and then he got paid for two years to do nothing but campaign... McCain, too, spent our money on the road campaigning instead of the job we were paying him to do. I respect Palin for her comment that she was not going to be a governor who said I’m not going to run again and then spends the rest of her time, and takes a paycheck, to travel all over the place on the taxpayers dime — to quote her “I’m not wired that way.” Governor Palin is a very conservative and very frugal politician.
