Here is video of GOP Strategist Ed Rollins giving his assessment of Gov. Sarah Palin's decision to resign as Governor of Alaska. Rollins calls the timing of her resignation announcement "suspicious," referring to it coming on a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend, and because she is not finishing out her term. He does not believe this is any way to start a campaign for President. (Watch Video)

My thoughts exactly, the only thing I can think of is she has a couple of skeletons in the closet she wants to get rid of. Perhaps she has decided to run under a different political party. Maybe start her own, since the Republicans really don’t want her involved in anything they’re dealing in.

Smaller government.

Lower taxes.

Strong military.

Energy independence.

Family values.

Personal responsibility.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No wonder the Democrats and Republican elites hate her so much!

One problem the political experts have centers on the complaint that Sarah didn't finish her term. Yet, the current President didn't finish his term, and before that he never really did anything, nor did he have a private sector job that he was able to hold onto for any length of time.

The next President should not have characteristics that deviate too far from the ones that typify the current President, presuing the broad masses had something in mind when they voted for Obama..

Sarah moves closer to the "current model" by abandoning elective office now ~ (just an observation) ~ so you might ask how Obama can prepare himself to counter that in 2012?

When does he "resign".

Serious questions have been raised by this and unfortunately she has provided slim answers. That leaves it for her ememies to fill in the gap with the worst speculation.

If she’s quiting politics, it does not matter. If she wants to stay, it really mattered a lot that she did this right.

That’s high minded of her, but she’d best keep in mind that “right values” doesn’t mean mouthing one line and then going and doing another thing. This covers not only the handful of GOP rogues like Sanford, but also any alleged blue dog Democrat who, like virtually all, is ready to say “yes massa” when the Word from Zero On High comes.

I believe she understands the sad arithmetic of spoilers and would much sooner buck up a repentant, refreshed GOP than to present it with a Perot like competitor.

She knocked the KING OF PEDOPHILES off the news for a few minutes. Michael - “I’m a druggie predator with 6 good songs and none in the last decade” - was getting really boring.

Sadly Barak Hussein Obama has another 12-13 years to be in elective office before he is equal to Palin’s elective/appointed experience...

Of course that cuts both ways ;-)

People are forgetting Palin’s political history. She took on the Alaska GOP old boys network and beat it.

I think she intends to do the exact same thing to the national GOP old boys. To which I say: About damn time.

God be with her.

She didn't give slim answers. She told us exactly why she was quitting, it isn't her problem that people don't want to believe her. She quit to help Alaska, to quit spending money on ethics charges that she keeps winning, 15 at last count, and probably more coming if she stays. She is leaving the state in good hands, and there is possibly another reason. Her lt. Governor wants to run for governor in 2010, by having 1.5 years under his belt, and if he does a good job, he will be more electable and more of a name than if she finished out her term. Either way she was quitting, she finished the objectives she set for herself and is now moving on.

Basically, most people on this forum would have quit long before this. She has undergone huge, baseless attacks on her, attacks that would have brought most people to their knees long ago.

I think she is doing the right thing, whether she quits politics altogether or not. I personally don't think she is quitting, I think she is going to campaign for other people.

that was exactly what I was thinking, the current prez didn’t finish his first term and didn’t accomplish anything.

Everything that is being said here, the speculation, Sarah already thought that out, people asking “How can she run, she quit before her term was up” no one knows what Sarah’s plans are. I support her 100 percent in whatever she decides to do, I think whatever made her decide to go this route, she was given advice by those around her. She could have finished her term and let others run, I just hope that she is Ok physically, she doesn’t look ill, and why is she waiting til July 26th to do it..
Another thing that has not been mentioned, Mark Levin was saying how Bush 43 did the same thing, got re-elected, and halfway through his term quit and ran for President, perhaps Sarah is going that route. We just have to wait and see. I trust Sarah completely, she is a remarkable woman who has endured more emotional hell then I have ever seen

I agree, I couldn’t have taken 5 percent of the hell she has gone through. I think she is gonna concentrate on writing her book, going to the lower 48 and campaigning for people, I hope she endorses Mark Rubio, cause I HATE HATE HATE Charlie Crist, I think that is EXACTLY what she is gonna do. This way she isn’t tied down to Alaska, she can go wherever she pleases now, and answer to NO ONE, she is now Private Citizen Palin, she can travel when she wants, go wherever she wants, and when the media asks why, she can tell them all to kiss her ass

Look, I’m as big a Palin fan as anyone but to suggest this doesn’t raise a ton of eyebrows is putting one’s head in the sand.

I hope like hell there is nothing to this, but I’m not going to pretend like it’s not possible either. The GOP has been in such disarray for so long now, these types of events only add to it. Pray that it’s nothing out of the ordinary because the leaders we have on the right side of the aisle have done everything in their power in the last few years to really screw things up.

So much so that we have someone like B.O. elected.

-Rollins is a Huckabee man, so naturally he is critical.
-She cannot run for President while being Gov. of Alaska (geographical challenges.)
-She cannot run for President if she must wait until Jan. ‘11 to start.
-She is not starting or joining any third party.
