Whig Out: Obama won't meddle in American revolution
Citing a new era in wishy-Washington foreign policy, the Obama Administration will not choose sides during this July 4th celebration.
President Barack Obama said he neither favors the English, nor the would-be Americans in the War of Independence.
"He essentially sees this as a battle between colonial powers," said Obama spokesperson Roberto "Glib" Gibbs."Obviously, one is a nascent imperial power, but the difference is negligible."
Normally, during July 4th celebrations, the President is expected to back the democratically-minded American side against a monarchy with speeches and press announcements, but feels this insertion into the fracas may be seen as meddling.
Gibbs said the president doesn't want to the White House to be implicated in any unrest, unless it's in Honduras.
Both sides were asked to tone down their rhetoric, or risk loss of an invitation to the annual diplomatic weenie roast.

Rep. Mike Pence, who co-sponsored the resolution, said he disagrees with the administration that it must not meddle in Iran's affairs.

As usual, it takes a Republican to confront evil and call it what it is. Here's what Rep. Mike Pence said today [h/t Gateway Pundit]:
"The President has the right to draw the line where he chooses to draw it but I am someone who believes that when Ronald Reagan went to the Brandenburg Gate, he did not say 'Mr. Gorbachev, that wall is none of our business.' He went to the Brandenburg Gate and he said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." We know from people like Natan Sharansky and Alexander Solzhenitsyn that deep in the gulags of the Soviet Union, when Ronald Reagan was willing to call the Soviet Empire 'the evil empire', it gave encouragement to the people who were fighting tyranny within the Soviet Union." -- I Hope My Obama-Supporting Jewish Friends Are Proud of Themselves | Vocal Minority | 6/18/09 | EricTheRed_VocalMinority | Posted on 06/18/2009 6:30:50 PM PDT by EricTheRed_VocalMinority
