Question: If 467,000 new unemployed make the unemployment rate go from 9.4 to 9.5 % (a 0.001 x increase) then doesn’t that imply that the employed make up 467,000 X 1,000 = 467 Million employed? Seems kind of difficult in a country with 300 Million souls in total.

They dont factor in the military, the retired, children, those in prison etc. If somebody is unemployed but tells the pollster that they have given up on trying to find a job, that person doesnt factor into the percentage.

Obama broke away from McCain in the polls last September during the economic crisis because voters saw Obama as the person to fix the economy.

It didn't help that McCain truthfully said he didn't understand the economy very well.
