Disciplined and Emotionally Controlled Dem: My Free Speech? Good. Rush and Sean's? Terrorism.

I think we now know who California's ideological heir to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is. It's current California Assembly Speaker Karen Bass. Everyone is focused on one quote from her LA Times interview, and no doubt this quote is worthy of focus.

--- "How do you think conservative talk radio has affected the Legislature's work?

Bass: The Republicans were essentially threatened and terrorized against voting for revenue. Now [some] are facing recalls. They operate under a terrorist threat: "You vote for revenue and your career is over." I don't know why we allow that kind of terrorism to exist. I guess it's about free speech, but it's extremely unfair." ---

It is problematic that any American politician would even think such things, let alone utter the thoughts. But to be fair, lest you think that the Speaker's quote was taken out of context or that it was simply an unthinking and excitable utterance, let's look at what she says elsewhere in the piece.

"Bass: You should have goals; it should be clear where the beginning, middle and end game is, and that's what I felt I was taught."

How has that helped in the speaker's job?

"Bass: The discipline, the control of emotions and picking your fights -- not just fighting because it makes you feel good, but fighting with a purpose."

So we can assume that this fight, saying that conservative talk radio terrorizes elected officials and implying that it turns listeners into terrorists, is part of a greater strategy with a purpose. What is that purpose?

This is just utterly contemptible. In its totality.

Its unfair? Unfair that they face any opposition? These people are not fit to serve. They don’t even understand the principles this country was founded and show even less respect for them. It would be so much easier if everyone just let them have their way on everything like the little feudal lords they’d have us make them groveling before them sayin “Yes M’am, whatever you say M’am” “Yes Sir, whatever you say Sir” and praising them for the right to be in their presence?

So do the job we elected you to do or we will fire you is terrorism now. Every aspect of my life has been labeled as terroristic. Who wouda thunk it? I knew being a christian, conservative, patriotic, stay at home mom, homeschooler, pastor’s wife was politically incorrect but a terrorist? Just WOW!

Evil people keep applying the word "terrorism" in increasingly ridiculous contexts. It's a standard tactic of totalitarians.

It brings to mind the second most famous quote from Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
