Energy Czar Has Read "Most of Cap and Trade"
Hot Air ^ | 06/29/2009 | Ed Morrissey

Barack Obama’s energy czar appeared on Fox & Friends this morning to discuss the cap-and-tax bill passed by the House last week on a razor-thin margin. Carol Browner got stumped by Fox’s Steve Doocy while questioning her ability to speak to the subject, which prompted her to declare Doocy “unfair” for blindsiding her. You be the judge — should Doocy have wondered whether Browner had bothered to read the bill she was promoting on national TV, or is that “unfair”?

The Dems in both Houses are beginning to see the light. 44 reps voted no for various reasons, but most are afraid of the re-election process. The 8 pubies who voted yes are toast.

The Senate, I believe, will be more restrained in their vote. Dems will cross the line and join the pubies on this one.

To tack on 400 pages to a thousand page bill at 3:10 AM on the day it was up for a vote smacks of politics in a banana republic. Shame on anyone who votes for crooks like these Democrats and the handful of quislings in the GOP who joined them in this shameful vote. The later group needs to have their photos plastered all over the internet with instructions on when the primaries in their states will be held so they can be defeated.

You have to know how the deal went down. In the house the bill was never going to get more or less than the 219 it needed. The “arm twisting” was on which Dems were going to be allowed to vote against it to enhance their reelection chances. The eight Republicans who voted for it are complete in the pocket of the trading firms who will be running the Enron trading scheme.

A bill that takes an energy byproduct, classifies it as a commodity, puts a cap on it and then allows businesses to buy excess commodities from other businesses that do not use it. Byproduct commodities traded on an open market!!!! Anyone remember Enron?

The result, businesses with excess with quickly learn that they can expect higher returns by selling their permits than producing actual products. Less products means higher demand, higher demand means higher prices for you and I without equilibrium to push the prices back down. Less products also means lower raw materials purchase, which means it effects everyone!

Where is the incentive to go green?????
