Amidst the Michael Jackson Farewell Tour, Media Whitewashing and Moonwalking on Muslim Eggshells
OK, WE'RE RIGHT! ^ | June 26, 2009 | Oscar De Los Santos and Kelly L. Goodridge

Liberals love to whitewash the truth and when it comes to reporting on the death of the so-called, self-labeled “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson, that fact is on sad display again.

Why does The New York Times feel compelled to whitewash Jermaine Jackson’s farewell to his brother during the press conference held at the hospital last night? As he concluded a fluff piece that yielded no new facts about Michael’s final exit that the fawning press hadn’t already spewed, Jermaine said, “May Allah be with you always.”

Let’s hope The New York Times bought its reporter a hearing aid this morning, because Jermaine’s words came out a little different in The Gray Lady: “May our love be with you always” (Brooks Barnes, “Shock and Grief Over Jackson’s Death,” The New York Times, June 25, 2009, http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/26/arts/music/26jackson.html?pagewanted=2&hp).

Does the “Allah be with you” goodbye signal that Michael was Muslim? That Jermaine is Muslim? OK couldn’t care less. The statement – and its distortion in the newspaper – raises a more important question: Why would the NY Times whitewash the Muslim reference, if not to once again walk on eggshells around Muslims? This is a trend in the lamestream media that we’ve seen time and again in recent years.

Of course, OK shouldn’t be so surprised. Coming from a liberal press that refuses to use the word “terrorist” when describing American-Muslim warfare, nothing generated by them should surprise us anymore.

But there may be a more disturbing cover-up here: The New York Times may be trying to help whitewash Michael Jackson's horribly tarnished reputation. This whitewashing extends to everything from his skin color to the pedophile charges leveled at him.

Last night on FOX News, Al Sharpton praised Jackson for breaking color barriers. He didn’t once mention that by constantly reworking his face via plastic surgery and dyeing his skin white – in many cases, whiter than most Caucasian people standing next to him! – Jackson seemed to negate his black roots.

And of course there are the child abuse scandals that Jackson had to face over the years: the 1993 charge he paid $22 million to end rather than see go to trial (Robert Sandall, “Will Michael Jackson Survive His Concert Marathon,” The Sunday Times, May 31, 2009, http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/music/article6372171.ece) and the more recent child abuse scandal from which he was cleared but which was precipitated by his onscreen admission that he slept with boys and that “it’s something the whole world should do” (“Michael Jackson Confesses: I Sleep with Boys,” World Net Daily, February 4, 2003, http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=30853).

In our “ObamaWorld 4” essay, we mentioned that Disney is kowtowing to liberal pressure by implementing changes to its upcoming “Frog Princess” film. Here we seem to be witnessing the same behavior from The New York Times as they cover the Michael Jackson farewell circus – except that this time, it’s internal whitewashing and self-censorship, since few papers have as liberal a lean as The New York Times. Bottom line: the tanking newspaper doesn’t dare risk losing any part of its customer base. It would rather distort news to keep liberals happy and in blissful ignorance when it comes to Muslim and MJ references. It needs the green stuff too much to do otherwise.

There is little doubt that Michael Jackson was musically talented and gifted.

He will be remembered as a musical icon in much the same manner as the Beatles and Elvis.

Jackson’s problem seemed to stem out of his own identity.

As a beloved child performer, Michael Jackson wanted to remain a child forever basking in the great memories as that beloved child perfortmer. Michael Jackson therefore never wanted to grow up. And it is this idea that mainly accounted for his bizarre behavior IMHO. The many plastic surgeries I believe was to change his appearance in order to resemble his discoverer - Diana Ross. Subconsciously he may have even entertained the thought of even getting a sex change operation toward that goal. But this talented man child was also consumed by alcohol and drugs as befalls the case with many musical performers. It was that abuse coupled with his own strange psyche as he grew older that led to the slide of his music talent and the final desiccation of his physical body.

This is all about favorably redefining MJs image to “KING of POP”. His estate is apx $500,000,000.00 in debt. It makes good business sense to exploit his royalties.

Well, he made many people happy with his music, but his personal life was a shambles.

I’ve not known of many singers in popular music who didn’t have a lot to hide. Mr. Jackson had a whole attic full of dreadful stories and acts.

His apparent predilection for young boys was creepy, and his self-imposed facial mutilation was, well, troubling, at the very least.

Michael Jackson’s life was a mess.

Personally, I never cared for his music. I thought it was silly.

I made the mistake of having FNC on this morning. And just now, I heard someone on there (may have been Geraldo) blathering that everything MJ did, including grabbing his crotch, was pure genius. Lord, spare us...

I contend that Quincy Jones is the real genius and with out him producing his music MJ would ahve been forgotten years ago.

Jackson’s problem seemed to stem out of his own identity.

He was something like the central character in a Greek tragedy, wasn't he? Propelled to the heights by his talents and consumed by his own flaws. The conversion to Islam was as much a self rejection as were his surgeries and bleached skin.

What the heck was Jermaine supposed to say?...’May CHRIST be with you?’ For God’s sake....the man is Muslim, not Christian and so why on earth would it be necessary for ANY newspaper to point that out?

I don’t think that was the case. He did not have a good childhood due to a very abusive father.

His impulses and obsession with children and childish things indicate a longing to capture a childhood he never had.

I love Quincy Jones. In fact he is a kind of modern Henry Mancini who I also admire.

Speaking of “whitewash” the ONE thing that bothers me the most is the complete omission of the fact that this twice accused pedophile managed to buy three clearly caucasian children and parade them around as though he was their father.

There is a special place in hell for that woman that went to the sperm bank then sold him her offspring

My secretary had all the details of this BS this morning, and I knew nothing of it until 10am!! My response to her was, “I think that the country going to hell in a handbasket is a tad more important to me right now”!

I have emailed both the "Special Report with Bret Bair" and "America Newsroom"

Here's what I received from my note to them (see below)

"Thank you for taking the time to email us. It was a network decision to air the breaking news coverage of Michael Jackson’s death. The decision did not come from Bret Baier or Special Report and we apologize for any inconvenience. We will be back tonight at 6pm EST with our regular programming and we hope that you will tune in!

Thank you,

Special Report w/ Bret Baier"

Subject: Thursday, June 25th "NEWS"

Was it necessary to turn the entire Special Report over to endless loops of Michael Jackson????

Also, shut up Sheppard Smith. Please, the man has two shows of his own. If I wished to learn of his opinion of MJ, I'd turn him in.

There are certainly far more important "news" besides Mark Sanford, the death of Farrah Fawcett and now Michael Jackson!!!!

Knock acting like TMZ! You are supposed to be a NEWS network not "All Celebrities - all the time!"

IMHO MJ’s life on stage is as much a rebirth of a childhood Jackson never had as you say but it was also an escape from the abusive life he had as a child. On stage, the adoration of his fans was as much a sop to his ego as it was the love he never got from his family. Jackson’s life more than anything shows what a true loving father means to a child especially a young boy. So many single families now have no fathers and that is one of the big shames of our society. But if a father is to be an integral part of the family unit, then that father must conquer his own demons in order to be a loving and giving parent to one’s child.
