The Chicago Tribune has a report that indicates that the firing of Gerald Walpin as Inspector General at Americorp may be part of a growing pattern for the White House.Well, the fact that the Chi Trib is writing this kinda stuff is amazing in and of itself.
However, they're just stating the obvious.

I expect the O-bots to hash up the old talking point about Bush firing U.S. attorneys in an attempt to downplay this. Even tho it’s comparing apples to oranges.

I remember a columnist or a blogger or some one (obviously I dont’ remember who) saying that here was wording in the first stimulus to give more power over the IG’s to the white house in that they could fire them at will and end any investigations that they were doing. Obviously that did not go though but some one should dig that up.
