Obama’s legacy will not be just the first black presidency. His will be remembered in history as the administration that relegated the U.S. Constitution to irrelevance, streamlined the structure of government to minimize or eliminate checks and balances, and consolidated executive power into a position to be envied by kings, dictators, potentates - and even by Philip Dru. ...Philip Dru believed that “Our Constitution and our laws served us well for the first 100 years of our existence, but under conditions of today, they are not only obsolete, but even grotesque (p.222).”

Wow! Barry's attitude exactly. I had never heard of House before and this is very interesting. Perhaps WWI kept Wilson from going even further down this road; perhaps only an outside event will be able to keep Obama from carrying out House's plan.

WWI did not keep Wilson from going down the road. He, singlehandedly, went on a mission with House to Europe, and with considerable effort beginning with the Paris Peace Conference, laid the seeds for the League of Nations. We were saved from joining the League of Nations only by the US Senate refusing to sign the treaty. We later got stuck with the UN whose initial members were all Marxists picked by Alger Hiss with the exclusion of the first US Ambassador who stated we would rue the day we joined the UN.
