With the recent news of the supreme court decision of allowing the Chrysler bankruptcy to proceed, I am sad to say that the third and final branch of our government has fallen. I had hoped that Ruth Ginsberg would hear the case and America would get a favorable ruling on the Chrysler case. A favorable ruling would would have included giving the bond holders first crack at the money they were owed, and ruling that the TARP money could not be used for Car Company Bailouts and upholding the rule of law. Alas, no. Instead, the New Car Czar, Steven Rattner and the Obama administration will continue to redistribute wealth by paying off the unions and beating up the investors. Now, nothing can be done to stop them
The Constitution is the basis for our laws. We will not survive without the Constitution of the United States of America. Without the rule of law to stop them, the federal government will be able to bully their way into every aspect of our individual freedoms. Restrictive Gun laws (or ammunition laws), Denial of Freedom of Speech, Open Borders, international law, end of states right are all much closer than you think
I fear revolt. The working class of the America, those that keep the nation afloat with their tax dollars, are reaching a tipping point. They feel they have no voice in the government, are paying for programs they do not support, while watching federal government empower itself while disinheriting them. They no longer see the government as their protector they
now fear the government. I see anarchy raising her head and it appears to have the full support of our US Government.
Land of the czars...
I’d have to go with anarchy
It is hard when only 1/50th of the states tries to defend. Maybe if the other 49 states would have backed Indiana.
Why are so many FReepers/Conservatives so willing to throw up their hands and declare “It’s over! We lost!”?
Lose the victimology complex, guys. The Constitution is still the ultimate legal authority, even if the people empowered by it don’t obey it.
The US Constitution died a long, long time ago. We are ruled (not governed) by a coalition of political ideologies. When the justices abandoned Natural Law and strict interpretation principles, the Constitution became nothing more than an historical document. Whatever the American dream was, it died along with the Constitution. Many citizens are living under the illusion of constitutional government, but it is nothing more than an illusion.
Where the law of the jungle has replaced the Law of the Land!
The Constitution is still the ultimate legal authority, even if the people empowered by it dont obey it.
Read your last sentence slowly and ponder on what you have written.
Sounds much like the 50's and 70's left wing radicals telling us the USSR Constitution is almost identical to the U.S. Constitution. And so it was, on paper but the reality of Soviet oppression was markedly different.
My issues is that so many of “our guys” are willing to abandon founding documents just because our political opponents have, rather than using all viable means to return to those documents.
I think you might be mistaken on FReepers abandoning the the founding principles and documents emboding them rather than realizing that with this administration, the current congress, and courts the rule of law has been abandoned and that their actions vis a vis ACORN, redistricting, the census, and such virtually guarantee that barring a massive uprising such as the founding fathers that their rule will only hasten the totally demise of this representive republic.
Consider the long period of discontent with King George III and the rapidity with which the revolt proceeded. We no longer have the luxury of our primary enemy being on distant shores not the snail’s pace of communications that the patriots enjoyed as thier scant advantage.
Already the citizens of our republic are burdened with greater imposition on thier freedoms, property rights, freedom of speech, taxation, etc that caused our forefathers to revolt in righteous anger.
In exchange for bread and circuses all too many have surrendered their manhood and honor.
It wil come down to the fourth box whether we like it or not.
God save the republic.
