The beauty of this crisis in CA is that barring Barry riding to the rescue, there will be massive cuts in spending b/c there won’t be any money. They can try to go to court, but all the gov’t has to do is show its bank book.

I'm all for a flat tax or better yet a simple Fair Tax to replace the income tax. But neither will fix the fluctuations in revenue since tax collections no matter what go down when the economy goes bad. You need to get a handle on spending and get the state as well as the fed to spend ONLY on their constitutional responsibilities. Until 1913 we had no income tax and we became the greatest country in the world in that time. To paraphrase Serpenthead Carvelle, "It's The Spending Stupid"
