Clarkson On: Cheap Cars
Top Gear ^ | 06/02/09 | Jeremy Clarkson

The ultra-budget Tata Nano is being hailed by many as the biggest leap forward since the Model T Ford. So, if they're right, it's more important than the Beetle. More important than the Mini. More important than man's conquest of the moon. And amazingly, more important too than the invention of Sky+.

I don't think they are right though. Because the only thing that makes it stand out is the low, low price. Brilliant. But I could make a cheap car if I built it in a factory made from wattle and mud, paid the workers in rice and motivated them into a 20-hour day with whips and flame throwers.

I love Jeremy Clarkson! In most of the Top Gear shows he throws in a snide remark regarding the eco-freaks.

If you read the article, he has lots to say about a Lancia being extreme car porn, and ending with the driver killing himself running into a tree. Fiat owns Lancia. Poor Chrysler.

He’s right. Better off buying used cars and hanging on to them than buying the crap that will be forced on us. Eventually the used cars will be made illegal to drive to force us to either ride the bus or drive crap like the nano. This is assuming that gas can be found.

Your Harley has more armor than the Nano, and your work truck gets better millage. The only thing the Nano is good for is irritating leftists.

Hey, IF I could buy it for $2.5K or so..., I would be happy to drive it locally and take my chances! Safer than my motorcycle and more storage capacity!

Me too... both a 124 Spyder and a 850 Spyder - very cute looking, but very “fiddly”...:^)

Always fixing something (change my name to "Tony"?)
