Interesting story, but I am wondering why Marcus would have taken a plea if he did not in fact attack a woman and call her a "n****R?
The story simply does not make sense.
Sorry, but this guy is too screwed up to be in that kind of position of executive responsibility. Somebody needs to ease him out, or if necessary push him out.
Yeah. Seconded.
Racism is the ultimate scarlet letter in this day and age aside from Pedo.
I might have taken a plea saying that I had sexually assaulted a poodle before I would have signed a plea saying I assaulted somebody and called them a racial slur if it didn’t happen.
He did, in fact, attack a woman. That’s the point of the story: that he transformed his life, got professional help, and righted his ship.
Now a bunch of internet hooligans decided that they’d destroy his life and professional ambitions on pure political motives.
I’m writing the UVA admissions committee. It will likely change precious little, but it seems a bit unfair to target this man unless he attempted to lie about it on his application where it asks if one has ever been charged with a crime.
Right now Marcus Epstein is either screwed up or a bad guy. I don't know which. Whichever the case he, he needs to make some changes. Instead of worrying about law school which is extremely challenging and taxing on one's brain, he needs to turn himself around and get his arse together. Yes, the left are jerks, but he brought this on himself by making the choice to hit women. Now he has to show that he learned from it and start acting like a respectable citizen.
Okay, I see thanks.
So, according to you, anyone who commits a violent attack on a woman and then transforms his life, gets professional help and rights his shit should be let off scot free with no consequences whatsoever.
The more immediate question re the UVA non-admission is whether he lied about his criminal record, in which case the university really had no choice but to rescind his acceptance once the facts came to light.
UVA can reject an applicant for almost any reason.
Falsifying an application is a very good reason to reject an applicant.
Committing a violent attack against a woman is another good reason to reject an applicant.
Actions Have Consequences.
According to the article, he does not deny the accusation.
"I write this story not as an excuse for Marcus actions. There is no excuse. Marcus would be the first to admit this, and he has, many times."
try reading the story again. He admits to the assualt.
Good Lord! Read the story! The whole point of the stroy is that this happened three years ago. He go help got straightened out.
We'll wait and see if he's straightened up. I hope he has.
So what part of ‘reached a plea agreement’, ie plead guilty, is not getting through
So he did in fact commit a violent crime.
He should be in prison, not law school.
Getting into an argument with someone and calling them a name like the n word can be classified as a 4th degree assault.
So a young man, late teens, early twenties, depressed and gets drunk, says some stupid things to black hooker and now gets to spend the rest of his life in either prison or exiled from mainstream America. I can only image what you would have done to im if he had been picked up for drunken driving. Do they still use the rack?
You are one hateful person.
looks like he took an “alford plea” and the us atty gave him a deferred sentencing. if he completed the prosecutor’s requirements on time they would drop the case
I think you made a mistake when you posted on this website. I have been reading and responding to several posts and have come to this sad conclusion. They don’t read the article, they don’t understand what they did read, and they misinterpret the rest. So do get it but still want blood.
this is young man is exceptionally bright and literate, i hope he can keep up his rehabilitation
